Whoa, what a barnburner to kick off the WWE's "real season." Really emptying the tank here on the first unopposed show. The easy prediction of the show beginning and ending with Authority promos was accurate, but no Randy Orton coming out of a box yet. Because it's too important to put heat on the Authority first, more important than the Royal Rumble or an actual Brock Lesnar title defense.

About that Lesnar match, that's the lone important thing from the show and it seems like a big one. Adding Rollins to the title match that they'd had booked for three months is the official signal that there's been a detour. So much for all that Cena/Lesnar: The Final Battle advertising they did. Seems pretty clear that Seth's being tossed in explicitly to take the title off of Lesnar while not pinning Lesnar until Wrestlemania. Which will mean putting the belt on him and removing it from TV will have amounted to all of ... well, we can talk about that then. Cena pins Rollins to win the title, then Rollins cashes in on Cena to take it back from him would be my immediate prediction. So the question from last week gets more interesting: which are they giving Reigns for Mania, the Lesnar win or the title win? And will Bryan get the other?

Ambrose losing all his matches is a comedy spot now, but the fact that the matches, long gimmick matches with lots of risks and punishment, don't even get over anymore because the context has killed them isn't funny.

Reigns' matches since his comeback have had about as much heat as the midwestern United States of America. I would be ashamed of that lazy burn but I don't have to worry about it because, again, no heat. Well, we've only been saying it since July. That's not a self-fulfilling prophecy, that's just a prophecy. It's funny that the most hopeful thing about Raw is tracking the unraveling of WWE's longterm plans and waiting for the reboot to kick in.

p.s. LOL the Ascension.

It wasn't easy breaking a twenty-two-year habit of always turning on the TV for wrestling on Monday nights...but this was a start.

I'm right there with you, PowerPB. I only watched the last hour, and it was pure garbage. 20 minute promos by the Authority to begin AND end the show, and the one match I was wanting to see, Ambrose vs Wyatt, was shoved to the front of the show so that we could glory in that bullshit 'You're all FIRED!' moment. The crowd was completely dead for that bit, presumably because half of them had already left in disgust when they found out what the 'main event' was.

Fuck you, Vince, and fuck whoever the hell you have writing this garbage. I'm done. I've taken years off from watching this bullshit before, and it looks like it's time to start again. Thank Goddess TNA is back next week. At its worst TNA's never been THIS terrible, and with way less talent. Too bad they're all being squandered by this rusted-out behemoth that clearly has no idea what the fuck it's doing.

That's a clever ending for the Triple Threat match I hadn't even thought of, which is probably why they won't do it. I think Cena's walking away with the belt now, which I kind of fear because it could mean a lameduck match for Brock and I don't really care about Cena getting the belt back in such an anticlimactic fashion just to drop it to Reigns.

So, then, do they do that Shield triple threat match and surround it with other big tentpole matches? We've firmly established that Reigns > Rollins > Ambrose, so unless their actual plan is to give Ambrose the belt (Ha!) I don't really see this as a compelling match if Reigns being champ is the end goal. It's a cakewalk for Reigns unlike the Jugggernaut vs the Beast match they had lined up.

Reigns/Cena, though, can be pretty compelling since most sane people want to see Reigns beat Cena clean to make a clean transition a la Hogan/Warrior and Bret/Shawn (even though, like the previous two, it's very possible he won't last as long as his predecessor).

If Lesnar won't be in the title match, then I hope that's who Bryan's facing at WrestleMania (although then I think that should be the title match). If not, It could be really cool to get that Brock/Rock match for box office reasons.

My fear, though, is that somehow we possibly end up with Taker/Brock II because WWE.

So maybe this is WrestleMania 31:

Reigns vs Cena for the WWE Title
Lesnar vs Daniel Bryan for fun
Sting vs HHH for HHH's ego
Taker vs Wyatt for making it up to Bray for last year and 'cause HHH wanted to wrestle Sting.

I'm at a loss...again. It's just like the start of every McMahon-Helmsley Era ever.

I've done a lot of traveling over the last few days, so I won't belabor this, but how many times are they going to rehash this junk? The 20-minute Hunter promos, the emasculation of the roster, the ineffectual booking of everyone but the top guys (and even Reigns is starting to get splashed by this nonsense). It's all the same crap we've seen a hundred times!

The only thing relatively fresh was the Ascension, so of course they got brutally buried on commentary. What was up with that, anyway?

I just realized that we got to see the result of BOTH possible Survivor Series endings: Team Cena ended the Authority AND the Authority fired everyone on Team Cena (except Cena for some reason). So all that for nothing? Awesome.

And like someone mentioned above, no one in the crowd gave half a crap about the firings anyway, and why should they when they're all just gonna get unfired in a week or two anyway AND EVERYBODY KNOWS IT? I understand that wrestling stipulations are never permanent, but can't we at least make the stipulation-breaking mean something and/or make sense?

What a stupid stoopid ending. I hope somebody in that company noticed how dead the crowd was for all that.

Wouldn't it be great if one night at the end of another HHH/Steph main event gab-fest, they both walked back through the curtain to find that ALL THE BOYS/GIRLS had already left the building as soon as their segment started?

And after DBryan announcing his return for the Rumble last week and the crowd losing their MINDS for it, this week we get... no mention of him at all? Did I miss it?

Maybe it was one-half of the APA and one-half of Harlem Heat pointing out that even if the Ascension are knock-off versions of Demolition and the Road Warriors (and at this point, we're talking dollar store), they're definitely not either?

I mean, Booker T said something to make him look so gloomy while wearing the headset not much longer in the show, which I usually attribute to someone chewing a commentator out (JBL's tell is the lack of a smile, or a crimped one as he bites the inside of his mouth, Cole's is when his speech takes a sharp downturn and he sounds more subdued).

Adding Seth Rollins is just kind of bleh, unless they REALLY play up the Brock = Mercenary thing and he sells off his title in the match.

The rest of the show was very telegraphed; if this leads to Ziggler, Ryback, and Rowan forming a barnstorming faction that infiltrates WWE events together, though, I can buy into it. I mean, you got the guy who can talk in Ryback (seriously, the guy has microphone skills when unleashed), the true workhorse in Ziggler, and Rowan as the big man who does a spinning heel kick that STILL gets crowd reactions, awesome.

However, all of that would require a nontelegraphing of Reigns (hint; feuding with Big Show).

Rollin's reaction in being included in the main event was gold, much like he's been since the Shield parted ways. We knew that Rollins could carry matches, but did anyone expect that he'd carry segments, ace promos, and be a main event player?

At this point, with his inclusion into the match, I believe this is where they try to make him "bullet proof" - I feel that he'll win the title outright and become the first guy to have the title *and* the briefcase. This will allow for the ultimate heel move; some time down the line he'd lose the title, then cash in right away to get it back. Justin's approach works as well. Either way, he's winning the title and he'll be "made".

The gamechanging direction isn't Rollins being included - although this is a change of plans I think it's obvious that they view him as a huge piece moving forward. The main event angle where everyone got fired will likely lead into either THEVIGILANTESTING returning and summoning them, or them returning under his shadowy direction.

As much as I like Wade, he gets the IC belt in the same fashion as Luke Harper less than 2 months ago and against the same champ. No one looks good in the retread.

Well, that was... something.
The big angle apparently was the firing. Which was less interesting and less shocking than the attack by Kidd and Cesaro. Which was great until the reveal. I love both guys, but not as a team and definitely not in a JTTS feud with New Day.

Rollins being added creates all kinds of booking-based logic issues re:Lesnar that I don't have the patience to go through. I like that he's in the mix and they have the potential to do something interesting and different, but I don't have a lot of faith in them at the moment so I'm taking the wait-and-see approach.

Did everyone who got mic time feel like jumping in on the Cesaro flub club? Brutal work by nearly everyone, especially HHH and Steph.

Ambrose should go full Joker and never even fight back against his opponents, eating pin after pin, while laughing. At this point, that makes more sense than whatever it is they're doing with him now.

Yet at some point, Booker T said Bray Wyatt "just wants to watch the world burn." So they're BOTH the Heath Ledger Joker now!

This is terrible awful episode is going to get a good rating and then God help us all. I know a lot of people like to come in here and say "Well, they could do this and it will be awesome." That has to stop. Because that has not happened in a long time with this company. The Crickets gave up on this show that is why you heard nothing during this show.

I could careless if Rollins wins and goes to Mania. He will be fifth banana if Cena is not in that match. Reigns need someone not named Big Show to face during this time. I was falling asleep during that match. HHH and Steph eating almost a third of the show is not good for everyone especially when its buried part of the roster time. My friend's daughter threw a cup at the television when Steph was on TV. I believe that is the most appropriate response and part of me wants the live crowd to do it as well. At least they would have gotten their money's worth.

That final segment should have just been the first segment of the show. We all knew where it was going since last week, so why bother with all this? I've seen some bad RAWs, but I've never seen three hours of programming with so little actual content. It was literally three hours built around one match and one promo, both of which were fait accompli.

Justin hit the nail on the head about Dean Ambrose. Just risk after risk, but without any drama because he NEVER WINS. It just makes the whole thing pointless, and in the final equation doesn't even do any good for Bray Wyatt. But really, those two guys are just the icing on the cake, because at this point they've neutered virtually the entire roster. We talked about Cesaro last week, but having Barrett come out as a face last week and become a super heel this week FOR NO REASON just annihilated any interest in him. And man, look at that last segment again (do not actually do this). Remember, the important thing isn't how the three guys who just lost their jobs feel, it's John Cena's reaction, because he is the only important person on the show. And his reaction? He felt kind of bad, I guess. Shit, it's not even like anything bad happened to him. The running joke of Cena being the biggest heel on the show is now a canon reality.

RAW is now a garbage show for garbage people. It is very frustrating. My list of folks that I care about from last week is now down to zero, as Ziggler is off for the time being, Bryan has disappeared again, and Barrett is no longer up to anything interesting. There is no one on the show that I care about.

I DON'T LIKE SOMETHING SO THEREFORE IT'S GARBAGE AND EVERYONE WHO DOES ENJOY IS OBVIOUSLY TERRIBLE TOO.

Quite frankly, everybody's reaction previously was "I hate how everything is centred around one person why are they not building up new people" yet when they do focus on Ziggler, Barrett, Reigns, Harper, Rollins, everybody is like "this is terrible, I don't care about these people".

-Dean Ambrose loses clean, thoroughly deflating the crowd.
-Cut to Cole, JBL & Booker, cheerily plugging the Network.
-YOU ARE DOING THIS WRONG.

Revised Road to Wrestlemania booking: Rumble goes before the title match, the Authority empties the ring before #30, which is Seth Rollins, making him the winner by default. In the title match, Paul Heyman turns on Brock Lesnar for...reasons...and sides with The Authority, who interfere and help Rollins win the match. Rollins goes into Wrestlemania as the Champion, the #1 Contender, the holder of a Rematch Clause and the owner of the Money In The Bank briefcase. Roman Reigns beats him four times in a row, allowing them to claim he "beat four members of the Authority at Wrestlemania!"

Glad someone else got to the Barrett thing first. He comes out to a face reaction to nerf support for Cesaro last week and is then portrayed as a straight up heel this week, killing any support of his own. Like, I genuinely don't think the second half of that was intentional, just good, old-fashioned incompetence. Wade Barrett remembering that time HHH literally walked up and kicked him in the balls for no reason and stopping Kane from helping him win the Intercontinental title and saying "If you think I'm joining The Authority, then I HAVE A CATCH PHRASE!" is not terribly hard to come up with, right?

The ending could have been worse: it sure seemed for a second like HHH and Stephanie were leaving the office, er, ring, to clear out space so Ziggler, Ryback and Rowan could all join The Authority, too and attack Cena. I guess they do get the Rhodes Brothers Memorial Attacking The Authority From The Crowd push now, which, I don't know, do they hide in the crowd in Sheep masks or do they hide in the crowd in Sting masks? I'm honestly not as down on this now as I was last night (when I was mostly down on it for being a terribly produced and written segment) as long as they don't turn Ziggler for Cena-fodder.

The ending could have been better: HHH and Steph leave the office, er, ring and go all the way up to the stage and HHH says "YOU'RE F-" and then BOOM! RKO OUT OF NOWHERE! and the crowd goes crazy and they aren't fired because it's wrestling and you have to say things into a microphone or they legally do not count.

The ending could have been better: everything happens exactly the same, but Jack Swagger wanders out on to the stage, throws his arms around HHH and Stephanie and says "Wow, I'm super lucky that I joined Team Cena but got briefly injured but not so badly injured that I couldn't compete on Survivor Series anyway and yet they totally forgot to re-add me to the team."

The ending could have been better: everything happens exactly the same, but at the end when they zoom in on Cena's hilarious sad face, they play the Debbie Downer horns.

But anyway, on to important things: The Ascension! They are going to be a spectacular comedy team in the very near future. Konnor delivered the hydrogen bomb of disses with that amazing "Road Warriors? We'll throw YOU...off the...ROAD!" line. I mean, as a live mic debut, that's almost as good as when compeltely different person Conor O'Brian introduced himself on NXT4 with the immortal line of "HeeeEEEEeeeeEEEeeeeyyyyyyy!"

The dejected looks of the three guys that got fired almost saved that last segment for me.

I also enjoy the way Helmsley says the word please like my one year old. 'Would you pwease welcome John Cena'. The unintentional comedy in that last bit was off the charts.

It's good to see that they haven't strayed from tearing apart their NXT call ups on arrival.

I am totally behind the idea of going all in on Rollins and making him the holder of everything even if it means the whole Brock Lesnar title reign makes zero sense.

They couldn't replace Lawler with someone like Regal for a night just to see how someone who can string a couple of coherent sentences sounds?

Regarding Ambrose, I think it's pretty clear at this point he's New Foley - complete with the double-armed DDT as the finisher (note; Bryan obviously ascended from his earlier role as New Foley). And he's been stuck twice now:

1) Feud with Rollins he couldn't win, because they're devoted into making Rollins a Main Event Player.

2) They're trying to rebuild Wyatt.
