Downtown is under lockdown right now.
Multiple gunmen, multiple locations. In the nation's capital. No one is publicly speculating anything yet in the media, but there's one word that is on a few folks' mind right now; terror.
Police et all trying to stabilize the situation downtown right now.
Me and my family are safe and fine right now, although the town as a whole is shaken up. Promote this thread! | | KJames199

This shouldn't happen anywhere, but Ottawa is a such a beautiful city. I was there for a week in the summer and loved it. I have one friend who just moved there and another who is there right now on vacation. Glad to hear they're safe - and you as well, EN. | cfgb

Quite the scene on the street today. I can't remember hearing so many sirens, or seeing that many police officers in one place. Catching a glimpse of what I guess was a sniper team or something up on a nearby roof was something else. I have been in my office all day.
We've been on lockdown since late morning, though we have been allowed to leave the building since 3 (but if you leave, you ain't getting back in - always pack a lunch, folks!).

An ISIS Twitter account sent out a photo of the shooter. So yeah, terrorism.
Meanwhile, Click Here (thestar.com). It turns out the guy who has a ceremonial role in the House of Commons is a 29 year vet of the RCMP, and apparently when you retire from the RCMP you don't retire from being a complete BADASS - he shot the suspect who was endangering some more lives. | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
