Even if you don't care about HBO, there's a chance this is the (long awaited?) start of cable being available outside of cable companies, ala carte selection being possible, and all those things TV people have been wanting for a decade to start happening. Only no one can really knows if it's a positive or negative impact in the long term until it gets rolling, just that it'd change the entire TV model.
It's also possible that it's a crippled version or one so expensive where you might as well just get cable. Or it doesn't get pickup expected like WWE Network and no one else follows the same path. It could disrupt things, it may not. But this definitely A Thing until we know more. Promote this thread! | | Matt Tracker

Comcast was apparently offering a $50-$80/month package of just 25Mbps/Local TV/HBO-Go.
Comcast Internet Plus puts HBO and basic TV into a bundle (consumerreports.org)
I believe most ISP/Cable TV providers multiplex their basic TV service with their internet, so it's always available whether you order it or not (at least, that was the case when we cut cable for a period of time and plugged the cable TV coax directly into the back of our TV).
Anyway, whether that says anything about the price point or not... | lotjx

I have it. Its good, granted I am noticing Comcast making the dollar amounts change each month. I did add the $5 sports package that should have had the SEC Network, but doesn't. Not like I am a fan of the SEC, but it is weird. The channels are few and far between, but AMC is one of them, so I get Walking Dead back. I will keep it til my year is over which is about when the fall shows go off the air, all the major sports are about done and Game of Thrones is ending. Then, I will try to hold the price point for another year or see if Google TV is out by then.
If HBO becomes a $8 a month service, it will be worth it just for Game of Thrones during that time. I am watching Boardwalk which will end soon and I am starting True Detective. Watching True Detective before I sleep was not a good idea. HBO Go is genius work and I am willing to reward them for it.

| #5 Posted on 16.10.14 1049.35 Reposted on: 16.10.21 1050.24 | That didn't take long - CBS has announced a $6/month service to get live streaming feeds if you live in one of 14 markets, get access to CBS shows the next day after it airs, and to get access to a library of old shows.
The downside is that streams don't cover everything - NFL has it's own streaming deal so you won't be getting that - and a lot of that content used to be free on cbs.com and won't be any more. And if every network goes $6, you're not really saving money going that way over cable. | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
