If this is really the way they're going, I really dig the use of Gareth flashbacks to tell the story of Terminus, rather than through exposition with our current group. Looks like we'll be seeing more of Gareth down the road.
For the first time in a long time, we see all of our friends together in one spot, and you realize, damn, there are a lot of people on this show. And Beth's not even there! But anyway, it's about damn time Rick and Carl got to reunite with Judith. Awesome reunion.
Another awesome reunion was Rick and Carol. The look on Rick's face told the whole story..."Please don't say you told me so."
The opening segment was hyped big time prior to airing as the most tense segment in the show's history. So, in a sense, it couldn't live up to the hype, but it was really fricking intense.
Did Michonne get her katana back?

Ty is breaking my heart. He wants to be the man he was before the world went to hell, and it drives him to violence. But it's justified violence. He's fighting to live and fighting to save others. And yes, of course, once you get your hands on Judith, you will go the way of all flesh, dude. You gonna get got.
Daryl almost broke me when he reunited with Our Lord and Savior, tucking his head onto her shoulder like a little boy. He has a strong moral core, he's skilled and savvy, but, emotionally, he puts his loved ones on a pedestal to always be above him.

Love the WALKER EXPLOSION!!!! with all the flying, burning zombies.
Overall a great way to start a season. | Leroy

I don't know - maybe I avoided enough of the spoilers, but I thought that was some pretty disturbing stuff. I really thought there was a chance Glenn was going to get it.
And again, Talking Dead does a great job of breaking things down and filling in some gaps (in case you missed it):
• the first guy to be cattled was Sam, whom Carol and Rick ran into with his girlfriend (or sister?) when Rick kicked Carol out of the group.
• the person the butchers were working on as they dragged Rick et al in to the butcher shop was the person Rick used as a human shield at the end of last episode - and that was supposedly Gareth's brother. Waste not, want not.
• But the biggest shocker for me was Denise Crosby played Mary:

I wouldn't have guessed that in a million years.

Now if Bob had been in the first spot I might have been on the edge of my seat a little bit more.
I was surprised they burned through Terminus so fast but I guess after spending so much time at the farm and the prison that it was kind of a breath of fresh air. | lotjx

I told my wife, I can't believe I saw a rather happy episode of Walking Dead where the Good Guys had a decisive win. I love who Carol went from this rather meek side character into the total bad ass she is now. The hug between her and Darryl was as good as the Grimes family reunion.
I missed the Morgan cameo, but its great to see him. Terminus in the comics wasn't that long either, so it didn't shock me that much to see it get wiped out in the premiere.

You can watch it here, or:
As for Gareth, I don't think he's dead. I think he just got shot in the upper left shoulder. I rewound and couldn't tell if he was mortally wounded or not.

The Walking Dead Premiere Breaks Ratings Record
In unsurprising news, a whole bunch of people watched The Walking Dead premiere Sunday evening. The American people love zombies so much that 17.3 million viewers tuned in to watch Rick, Daryl, and the rest of our heroes take on the horrific folks of Terminus. More importantly, 11 million of those people were in the coveted adult 18-49 demographic! The Walking Dead: The truth about Terminus and the road ahead Zombies even beat out Sunday Night Football, which is basically a religious experience for many Americans. Over 2.5 million more people watchedThe Walking Dead, and AMC estimates that when time-shifted viewing is accounted for, the Season 5 premiere could top 22 million viewers, which I'd guestimate is about how many zombies died in Sunday's premiere. The previous ratings record held by the Season 4 premiere tallied 16.1 million total viewers and 10.4 million viewers in the 18-49 demo. With DVR playback included, those numbers rose to 21.1 million and 13.9 million, respectively.
