Most of you guys are too young but she and Phyllis Diller were the knock 'em out funny comedians of the late 60s and 70s on the female side. I respect her as much as George Carlin at least.
I know that more than once, I got busted watching Johnny Carson from my bedroom through the crack of the open door - and got busted when I laughed. She was very very funny,

In 1992, when Carson retired, Rivers hadn't been on the show for 6 years because of her Fox show. If she had just told Johnny it was happening, it probably would have been ok, but he found out about it on the news like everyone else. Carson's 1st choice was Letterman. | dwaters
