And I don't think I'll ever get over the fact that Nick Offerman has yet to be nominated for Ron Swanson (but, as my avatar may suggest, I'm very biased there...)
I don't really have a lot of objections. I love 'Derek', but I don't think Gervais was *that* good in the role. And if anything, the list is a tad uninspired... so there's not a lot here that I haven't seen or that I feel I need to start watching.
But I like enough of the shows that are nominated for something, so I *might* care to watch the awards show this year.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine gets just two nods, after winning the Golden Globe for Best Comedy based on just half a season!? At least one was for Andre Braugher. (the other - best stuntwork in a comedy...a category I didn't know existed! I believe that was where Community got its only nod.)
Parks & Rec is always snubbed, at least they didn't nominate every single person on Modern Family this time but that show still clogs up all the categories. Offerman should've won a few years back.
I loved seeing that Steve Buscemi got a nod for the "Celery" episode of Portlandia. | wannaberockstar

How the hell is Fred Armisen a 'supporting' actor on Portlandia? I would've been totally fine with him as a lead but supporting?
The 'guest' categories are also pretty confusing. It's great seeing the OITNB ladies nominated, yet Cox, Aduba and Lyonne were all actual cast members, not guest stars.
If I had the vote.... Breaking Bad, Cranston, Caplan, Dinklage, Gunn, 'Ozymandias,' 'Who Goes There'

He would have submitted himself as a supporting actor. The Academy doesn't choose it...the actors do themselves.

The Tatiana Maslany thing really bums me out. I felt like she had enough groundswell that they'd have to notice. Silly me.
Mindy Kaling not getting nominated is ridiculous. I understand New Girl wasn't quite as good this year, but Zoey Deschanel is still excellent (if not to everyone's tastes, I know).
I literally watch nothing on the drama list except Game of Thrones. Mariska Hargitay should be nominated every year until SVU ends 'cause she's awesome.
I'll be all in for Louis CK to crush Jim Parsons...but it'll be Jim Parsons.
I had literally never even heard of Silicon Valley.
In comedy, Brooklyn 99 is the big snub to me. Andre Braugher is awesome, but so is literally everyone else on the show. Chelsea Peretti should definitely be nommed in supporting actress and I'd throw Terry Crews in with Andre Braugher.

Anna Gunn is taking a spot for a good actress. There is nothing in this season of Breaking Bad that made her Emmy worthy. Maybe season 5, maybe. Breaking Bad and Cranston should win as does best episode. Direction as to go to Watchers on the Wall if for only the big camera move during the battle. That was epic.
Mayim deserves to win. Orange is going to rampage through the comedies. Louie should win for Best Actor. | kentish

Still, Fargo, True Detective, GoT, House of Cards, Luther, and Breaking Bad are well represented, so I have plenty of shows to root for. In fact, with the current Renaissance of television, I actually care about the Emmys again, much more than the Oscars these days. | Zeruel

They are all regular cast for season 2, but not for season 1. The episode that is up for an Emmy, Lesbian Request Denied, is from season 1. I am assuming that all their nominations are for season 1 work, which they were all not main cast members, as they are now.

I'm a little annoyed with Suits at the moment--ok, quite annoyed--but that's mostly because I don't like where they've been going with the start of this season, so that really shouldn't matter here. White Collar I think is past its prime, but still pretty good.

I think of it as a Dramady, the same way MASH seasons 6-11 were. An overall serious situation for the show (prison vs war) with some funny bits sprinkled in (the great chicken hunt vs crazy antics by Drs trying not to go mad in a stressful situation). | lotjx

See, it annoys me a bit since I thought MASH always had a leg up on the comedies, because they could turn on a dime to be a very serious show about real things. To me, MASH will always tilt toward Drama. Sons of Anarchy will always be screwed out of these things. Don't ask me why, I still think seasons 1-4 were as good as anything on TV even Breaking Bad. Again Skylar is taking away from Sagal or Russel from the Americans. There is no need for two DownTown Abby supporting nominees. One of those should go to Maggi Siff for Sons.
Downtown Abby? Really that fad is not over? Sherlock should get all of the awards for mini-series.

My wife tells me Eva Green is something else and deserves to win every award. I wonder if the show's scheduling prevented the submission of any material (it started mid-May, and the cutoff for eligibility is May 31). |
