| #1 Posted on 9.5.14 2316.51 Reposted on: 9.5.21 2318.48 | Smackdown opened this week with the US Title rematch, Sheamus defending against Dean Ambrose. All three members of the Shield were booked in singles matches, it was announced, and it seemed they were banned from ringside for each other's matches. Ambrose took the fight to Sheamus, who wrestled as the heel in the match (but didn't cheat). A Brogue Kick sent Ambrose to the outside, where he barely beat the ten count back in, but a second Brogue Kick finished him off.
RVD and Big E formed the Consonant Tag Team, taking on Cesaro and Bad News Barrett, with Paul Heyman on commentary. During the match, RVD accidentally caught Big E with a spinning heel kick, something the commentators (and the later replays) completely missed, letting Cesaro hit the Neutralizer on Big E for the win.
The newly de-Александърed Русев took on Kofi Kingston again, squashing him more handily this time, as the commentary team referenced Русев learning from Kofi's tricks and countering them this time around.
Fandango and Layla defeated Santino and Emma, when Layla rolled up Emma after Santino took a spill to the outside. Layla and Fandango proceeded to kiss on the stage, leading commentators to speculate Summer Rae would be jealous.
Roman Reigns took on Mark Henry, with Henry seeming quite pleased that he had Reigns alone, taunting him throughout the match that it wasn't three on one anymore. Reigns countered a Vader Bomb attempt by getting Henry up on his shoulders, hitting a Samoan Drop, and then finishing him with the Spear.
Los Matadores and El Torito faced 3MB (Slater, McIntyre and Hornswoggle). Torito and Hornswoggle wound up facing off at the end of the match, but Slater tagged himself in to take advantage of the little bull. It was to no avail, as the Bullsault and pinned Slater.
Batista faced Seth Rollins in the last Shield singles match. Rollins took it to Batista, gaining the advantage with high flying offense, until Batista dodged a top rope attack and dumped Rollins onto the announce table. Batista made it back in at 9, and Rollins wasn't moving, so he lost via countout. Batista wasn't through, hitting a Batista Bomb on him afterwards.
In the main event, John Cena and the Usos faced the Wyatt Family. Jey Uso was dominated for most of the match, before being able to make the hot tag to Jimmy. It was to no avail in the end, as while John Cena was able to take Bray Wyatt out of the equation, Harper still hit his discus clothesline on Jimmy to get the pin. The Wyatts once more stand tall. Also, gotta love that they dumped the Bulgarian Brute idea to go with the good old fashioned Evil Russian schtick that got this country through the 80's. I feel like someone should grab Nikolai Volkoff and have him give us a Russian national anthem, for old times sake. | MoeGates
