Went to see the midnight showing here (yes, we get the movie a week early) and WOW. This was amazing.

You've probably seen the trailers.
Some of you know who/what the Winter Soldier is.
Well..this movie is so much more than this storyline.

I started reading Cap around the time of the Death of Captain America and immediately went back to the #1 issue to find out all about this Winter Soldier character.
I've been a fan of Cap and WS ever since.
When I heard they would do a movie I was hyped but tbh I was also curious how they would tell the story. Could they give it enough emotional background?

I feel they were able to hit all the right points.
But on top of that, the rest of the movie would stand all by itself and would rock, even without that other story.

Without going into spoilers, the movie definitely goes into the current political theme of 'can a spy organisation go too far' but with a big and grand Marvel twist. It's a huge and very well paced story.
There's references to the other characters and movies (the only thing left unclear is where they are right now-but that's something that I expected)
And there's even name dropping of other, new & future heroic characters.

Spoiler Below: Highlight text to read
Stephen Strange gets namedropped and well..post-credit stuff

And every character gets a chance to shine.
Cap is Cap. A man out of time, with values that cannot be compromised but yet is able to handle himself well in this new world. Oh-We get some resolution between Steve & Peggy Carter and it's a very touching moment.

The introduction of the Falcon is very nicely done, and he immediately fits in there with Cap.
The Black Widow has a bigger and more important role than I epxected and she delivers, both with the fighting and some great comedy (she and Cap play well together)
The Winter Soldier is a nice threat lurking in the shadows (and then in the open and then there's a chance that we'll see him again)
Fury, Maria Hill, and all the other old/new Shield people get their moments.

Basically, I cannot rave enough about the movie.
From the start to the 2 post-credit scenes (one dealing with this movie, the other one with a future Marvel movie) it was a thrill ride. I need to see it again, and I really cannot wait for Captain America 3.

Just to rub it in, I'll share that I saw it a second time and it's still a great movie.
And the stuff that's been happening in the Agents of SHIELD tv show very much ties in to the situation in the movie (and vica versa, the movie should have an effect on that show)

Pay attention to the little book that Steve has on him in the opening minutes of the movie.
And then read up on it online later.
Fun!

Oh, and Ed Brubaker, the writer of the Winter Soldier storyline even has a cameo.

Just came back from seeing it tonight. What a brilliant movie. Loved the spy thriller aspect of it as well as all the action sequences.

A lot of the minor actors did great jobs with their roles. Everyone was really fleshed out quite well.

I also really enjoyed the credits - not the post-credits scenes, but the way the credits themselves were done.

For most of the second half of the movie, I kept expecting Alexander Pierce to rip off his face to reveal the Red Skull. With the appearance of Arnim Zola, I thought it was a given, and I was surprised when it didn't happen.

This far exceeded my expectations.

You gotta love what they're doing with all these Avengers characters and their tied together yet stand alone movies.

An outstanding movie. Cap is a little overlooked in the Marvel movie universe --- Iron Man is the lead figure, Thor is probably second, and you could argue that even figures like Black Widow, Nick Fury and Coulson are more intrinsically linked to the MMU than Steve Rogers. That said, both Cap movies have been awesome, whereas the Thor movies were both just good and only the first Iron Man was a legit classic.

And yeah, I can't wait to tune into Agents of SHIELD this week to see the fallout.

I'll echo what everyone has said so far, this was a fantastic movie, probably my third favorite in the MCU following The Avengers and the first Iron Man.

I'm thinking Avengers 2 is going to be a pretty long movie considering how they have to get a lot of different characters involved.

Cap 2 is the best possible version of Iron Man 2. Thank goodness they figured it out.

Is that going to happen this week? As best I can tell, Agents of SHIELD has to catch up to the movie.

Spoiler Below: Highlight text to read
Is the Clairvoyant aligned with HYDRA? Is Mae reporting Coulson's status to HYDRA? They certainly made it seem like Agent Hand is the Clairvoyant or the Clairvoyant's mole inside SHIELD, which means they've got to deal with her betrayal. Sitwell was fairly active in last week's episode, so for him to then wind up on the freighter has to mean some time has passed... Plus, wasn't Simmons at the Triskelion, which would mean she'd be there alone when all hell breaks loose...

The best theory I've heard is that the Clairvoyant is infiltrating SHIELD to fight HYDRA. Which could actually lead to Coulson and co. being recruited in the aftermath of Winter Soldier, and that could the direction the plot goes in for the show in the future.

Or Coulson and crew could become mercenaries, taking missions where they can get them to keep buying food and fuel and keep flying. They can't take the Skye from me.

Overall though, great movie.

My wife and I went nuts for the "epitaph" in question, but I think maybe a dozen people in our theater caught it...it does go by pretty quick, if you miss the joke.

That's from the second Thor movie - Loki's magic staff. I guess Shield/Hydra took custody of it.

People in the audience were cracking up but if flashed by too fast. Had to google search it.

Nick Fury's grave bears the epitaph: "The path of the righteous man. Ezekiel 25:17." This is a favorite line of Jules Winnifield (played by Samuel L. Jackson) in Pulp Fiction.
