NBC Universal has let their exclusive negotiating period lapse, so they are free to negotiate a contract for new network deals.

I don't see why they wouldn't. In the era of DVRs and online streaming sports have become more and more valuable to networks because it's one of the few things left people still want to watch live. MLB and NASCAR recently cashed in huge TV deals and WWE wants something similar. This article from Variety can explain it far better than I can, but WWE should cash in big.
