Smackdown's main event was nice and straightforward this week, Randy Orton vs. Christian. Christian, sadly, has started to forget about his past matches against Orton, possibly due to his life-threatening illness. At the climax of the match, Christian went for his second-rope sunset flip but was caught with an RKO. I can't help but be a bit disappointed with that, if only because they've ended a previous title match like that, and then in subsequent matches they'd called back to it with Christian knowing it was coming and faking it out.

The show opened with Daniel Bryan calling out Kane, who apologised for his actions on Monday. Bryan tried to remind Kane of their past friendships, calling back to the "I am the tag team champions!" times, but Kane said that in this business you either choose to make friends or to make money. Bryan wanted to fight Kane, but Kane instead made a match with Bryan vs. Cesaro. In that match, Bryan countered the giant swing, then hit the Mistico special into the YES!lock for the win. Kane came down after the match, distracting Bryan long enough for Cesaro to hit the Neutralizer, after which Kane landed a chokeslam on Bryan for good measure.

In other matches, Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns teamed for the first time in a normal tag match against Kofi Kingston and Dolph Ziggler. Ambrose tried to steal a tag on Reigns again, but was caught and dodged this time, allowing Reigns to hit the Superman punch and spear on Ziggler. Reigns then went to tag Ambrose on his own, giving him the win. Ambrose was perfectly alright with that, but Rollins got in between them before Reigns could make the disparaging remarks you know Reigns was going to make. The Wyatts once more cut a Titantron promo on the Shield after the match.

Sheamus beat The Ryback with a Brogue Kick, after his first Brogue Kick attempt was caught and countered into a powerbomb. AJ beat Nikki Bella via the Black Widow after twin miscommunication. Bray Wyatt, in a rare free-TV match for him, beat Goldust with Sister Abigail, after which the Shield delivered their own Titantron promo to the Wyatts.

As well, backstage Titus O'Neil interviewed Renee Young, showing off his charisma and getting her to smell him, before he got ambushed and beaten down by Darren Young.

Oliver is free to do a more in-depth recap should he want to again! Until then, the floor is open!

Smackdown was okay, but not much to write home about. Bryan/Cesaro was good, but not as good as I was hoping, and Orton/Christian was very good, but a repeat of a match we've already seen. Basically just a lot of by-the-numbers placeholding until Monday.

All the wrestling on this show was good, which you'd expect with an abbreviated Bryan/Cesaro clash, Christian and Orton in their usual match (with the same finish they always do), the Shield going up against two talented job guys. But to me the most impressive thing on Smackdown was Sheamus vs. Ryback, which was astonishingly good. I almost wish it had been on Wrestlemania. Reminiscent of that TV battle between Big Show and Ryback on Raw a few months ago where you just watch it wondering how this is happening and why.

The "Chamber guy gets jumped and a bigger star takes his pod" deal never seems to happen as much as it's predicted, but Kane going in for Christian to protect Orton would make a lot of storyline and heel/face balancing sense. But hopefully not, Christian's a genius at contributing spots and other ideas to big multi-man matches.

It's so jarring to see Cesaro counter into a powerbomb, and then later they replay the powerbomb, and not ONCE do either Cole or JBL say "powerbomb" - or much of anything. These are the kind of things that really take this old dude out of enjoying watching this era of the product.

When did @Dustin_Rhodes1 become @Goldust? Tonight was the first night I noticed it on the graphics, but apparently he got it like three weeks ago.

Really weird timing having AJ's entrance and then A LOT of other stuff (including the Black History Month bit) before having the Bellas' entrance.

I keep hoping more of these shows will lower the secondary market prices on Elimination Chamber tickets, so... keep up the good work, WWE!

Ryback-Sheamus was a great match.
They did a lot of moves that you wouldn't expect to see in a match like that in a slot on the card like that.
Catching Sheamus and turning it into a powerbomb was very nice (not sure if they called it that)

Bryan-Cesaro was great for such a 'short' match.
Bryan's spin around Cesaro into the yes-lock was a thing of beauty.

Titus' backstage promo showed that he has potential.
He's got the big character down. Now let's hope he can translate it into the ring.
Best part however was by Renee, when he asked if she was nervous and she just goes 'no'.

You knew they'd do a Richard Sherman reference. And do it much too late.
whatever

I thoroughly enjoyed that show. I loved the Goldust / Wyatt interaction during the match, Brysn / Cesaro was outstanding, and I love love love the Shield vs the Wyatts promo battles. My youngest is eagerly awaiting the TV debut of Rusev.

Best part of Titus' promo was "I have a great smile..." The girls were howling.

Oh, here's the thing I forgot. I think slapping #YESMOVEMENT on the screen kills it. (Not that having the commentators repeatedly say "Yes Movement" wasn't already killing it, but this will definitely speed it up.)
