So I've been a pretty big fan of iTunes for a while now - not so much because I think it is all that impressive of a music player, but I generally feel it does a fairly decent job of keeping my music organized behind the scenes - making it easy to backup and transfer between a variety of my machines.

Recently, the media player portion has become pretty atrocious, and I'm now running into an issue where it's cutting off songs before they end (songs that play perfectly well on my linux machine or on my iPhone). I've tried Googling a few solutions, but none of them work. And while I'm pretty sure this is an issue with the MP3 files themselves and not necessarily an iTunes problem, the fact that Clementine, Banshee, Subsonic and my iPhone all play these files back without an issue leads me to seek another player.

With that long winded backstory, anyone have any other music players they like for OS X?

I've tried Sonora and Songbird, both with 'Meh' results. I'm looking a Clemetine for Mac, but I'm more interested in an OS X native app, and less a port.

I can't offer an alternative, but have you considered a backrev of iTunes?

iTunes 11 sux rox, and I'm still on 10 at home because they finally finished the job of incrementally destroying the interface and removing all functionality in favour of forcing folks onto their shop. I finally said "no mas."

If you're not using the store - and it sounds like you're not - why not go back a few versions to the last one you really liked, and see if that clears up the other problems as well?

From what I have read, this MP3 issue has existed for a while - so rolling back *may* not necessarily fix my problem.

And I should mention that none of the files that I'm having issues with were ill-gotten gains. I do frequent OOP music blogs, but that's questionable at best.

I installed Clementine, and it's CLEARLY a port... and not a great one at that. The linux version is much cleaner, but beggars/choosers/etc.
