Hahahaha.
So. Did there end up being a good reason to not have the 6-on-6 match on this show instead of Raw?
Not really. It was better than anything on the PPV.
5-on-5 was okay but not as good as basically any Shield/Rhodes/Usos match of length over the last couple months. The match layout was designed around the faces going up 5-2 and then Roman Reigns eliminating 4 guys with spears to be sole survivor. Bad for heat, bad for babyfaces, good for Roman Reigns. I guess he'll have himself a pretty successful Royal Rumble.
Big E beat Axel with big ease. Yeah. Reigns and Langston are basically the Blade Runners circa 1986 right now in this company.
TOTAL DIVAS FOR LIFE, FUCK THE TRUE DIVAS. Nikki and Natty survived when Natalya tapped AJ. Suck it, Orquiola. This match was averaging an elimination less than every 60 seconds for the majority of the match. Eva Marie was eliminated in one move. Hopefully there's a TDs season 2 plot where she is freaking out over this responsibility. JoJo didn't tag in until the very end, eliciting amazing "We Want JoJo" chants. "A critical moment here as JoJo has literally no experience in a WWE ring." My sweet little JoJo had a brief Mavenesque run of pluckiness against Tamina. The match was carried by 30 seconds of Summer Rae's proud dancing.
Nicole has clearly been doing a lot of squats-based exercise (wonder who's got her doing that), and did some crazy power moves like a torture rack drop thingy. The Bellas evolving into their boyfriends in-ring continues to be a remarkable experiment in nature vs. nurture.
Ryback's open challenge was answered in a genuinely good surprise opponent, Mark Henry. Henry won this Wrestlemania rematch to sweep the season series. There was a "That's What He Does" chant. Mark did a JYD headbutt as I guess it's all systems go on just pretending he's the Dog in time for New Orleans.
John Cena won with the AA in every John Cena match there's ever been. More importantly, John Laurinaitis had a cameo in a backstage segment for action figures.
Bryan and Punk vs. the Wyatts was very good, though not as good as Monday. Impressive job by BP Oil (we'll just keep throwing names out there until one sticks) in getting a long match out of a limited team, only half of which is really trusted in the ring for any length of time. Highlight was Bryan doing a rana out of that powerbomb liftoff spot he and Harper had been doing, only to eat a top rope powerbomb. Punk and Bryan won clean with stereo finishers, so I think they're 4-0 against in a couple weeks. Bray refused to come get some so I guess that's the hook for their Tables, Ladders, and Rocking Chair rematch.
Orton and Big Show started at 10:28, went 12 minutes, stunk, elicited "Daniel Bryan" chants, and, after all the drama in the build-up, had the eminently creative finish of HHH, Steph, and Kane WALKING TO THE RING and distracting Show, getting him RKO'd and punted. Should've put Bryan and Punk on last again. But then the show couldn't have ended with THE STAREDOWN.

The G.O.A.T. (Greatest of all Teams) v. Wyatt Family was tremendous. Between Bray going from anxious to literally chair flipping crazy, Rowan talking to his lamb mask, and "Yeah, yeah yeahs" it seemed like Bryan and Punk were fighting mental circus people. Hart Attack Special for Bret who was in the house, top rope Awesomebomb. There was no way Show and Orton could of followed that.
So judging by crowd response of the Divas Survivor series match, Eva Marie is the top heel, Aj is the top face, followed by Summer Rae and crowd underdog favorite....Jo Jo.........
YEAH IT'S JOJOMANIA! IF YA JOJOJOJO-LALAOOOOW! AND THAT'S THE BOTTOM LIIIIINE! WHAT!? CAUSE JOJO SEZ SO!

Mark Henry being back is a good thing. Alberto Del Rio being out of the WHC scene is a good thing.
And, hopefully we finally get that Unification Match. Hell, do it tomorrow on RAW. Let's just get rid of that nagging redundancy that's existed for the last 11 years so the Royal Rumble winner has a clear prize in January.
Cena/Orton is an intriguing unification matchup. I don't know who will win. You'd think Orton since they want a strong heel going into WrestleMania, but Cena screams big time main event championship match more. Not that they have to commit to the winner of this hypothetical match.

Do I like that this is the path they're going down? Absolutely not. It's just another stark reminder of how terrible a job this company has done at building new stars. But let's face it: They HAVE to get unification done at some point, because there hasn't been need for a second world title in years. Oddly enough, you can argue that they're following in WCW's footsteps (circa 1994), with Cena playing the role of Sting and Orton playing the role of Flair. Why this company would ever want to emulate WCW, I have no idea, but there you go.
TLC should be very interesting with the six-man Tables, Ladders, and (Rocking) Chairs match. The question becomes, who becomes Punk and Bryan's third man? See, THIS would have been a great place to have Kane come back and it would have fit the angle like a glove, but who am I to tell Creative how to do their jobs? As it is, I can only hope that someone can talk someone of importance into letting Dolph Ziggler in on this feud.

| #6 Posted on 24.11.13 2347.54 Reposted on: 24.11.20 2349.08 | Hello fans. I was at this thing.
Here's the thing. The only guys who wrestled on this show who were also wrestlers when I stopped watching wrestling were Rey Misterio, Big Show, Mark Henry and Goldust. So maybe I'm out of touch! I don't know.
I do know that the main event was hilarious and bad. Orton screwed up sliding out of the ring, the draping DDT by draping the Big Show so far that he stopped draping, and apparently whiffed on the punt, which is a move I only recently found out was a thing.
Cena coming out was a relief because Orton is such a dull fart. I don't love Cena and his facial expressions are really stupid, but he's got zazz! and verve! And whatever. His match with Del Rio I thought was quite entertaining, though not particularly meaningful.
The crowded chanted for Bryan during the main event, which I thought was funny because, though I don't always watch Raw, I thought his whole angle was great! It's like, I can still appreciate the art form of wrestling, but I used to be all into it with, you know, emotions? Then Shawn Michaels, haha, what, really? They did that? It seemed tailor made for Kane to return at Hell in the Cell, in the very demonic structure, custom built for injury, in which Kane first appeared, and he would help out Daniel Bryan and counteract the nefarious interference by the Shield or whoever! Like, that's the booking. It's common sense. There's no alternative. What happened instead made me drastically rethink ordering tickets for this show, which I of course did anyway because who cares. Basically I don't get what the fuck is going on with all that, but Daniel Bryan kicks people really hard, and I enjoy that. CM Punk it seems like in real life is a giant toolbag but I enjoy his wrestling moves. So that match was fun times.
BULLET BOB ARMSTRONG POINTS *Goldust is really good. WTF? Goldust was never this good. Right? *Booker T was eating ice cream (I think) and looking at his phone during a lot of the matches, but Foley was intently watching them, and applauded the girls after their match, which I skipped out on. *What's happened to the IC title is really unpleasant. *All those spears were cool and so was the way Rey acted dead for a really long time. | lotjx

What's interesting is that all the hub and bub over the last few weeks has been that Cena was given the World Title to rebuild it and that they have a big WHC match planned for him at Wrestlemania. If Cena's wrestling Hogan, the World Title is sort of out of place and unnecessary. If Cena's not wrestling Hogan, Orton is wrestling Punk, and Undertaker is wrestling Lesnar, I don't know who Cena's wrestling, but I guess we'll see.
Anyway, if they're going to it for TLC, I suppose it could just be a "Face of the Company!!!" match, or the WWE Universe will determine which title is on the line/hanging from the line in a ladder match (and which title will be retained). There'd be a weird symmetry if they unified them at the December PPV again though. Four man tournament of Orton/Cena/Punk/Bryan that Bryan wins!

Out of curiosity, did you attend the show with any sort of younger relative or perhaps a street urchin hired for carpool lanes, and what did he or she think of the extravangza?

Off-the-wall-idea: both titles are hanging from the hook. Orton and Cena climb the ladder at the same time and each grab the other guy's title and drop to the mat! Two title changes, but each still has a title.

100% with you on the good surprise part. But dood, not only did he do the JYD headbutt, but he also busted out a JYD "THUMP" powerslam. The only way they could've been less subtle about it was if Henry came to the ring to "Grab Them Cakes" and danced with the kids post-match.
Question re: setting up Henry for Wrestlemania XXX - long-term, would it be more interesting to team him with Langston for what might be the face equivalent of Studd/Bundy (but with more strength and better physiques), or do you set up Langston vs. Henry with Henry to do the job to put over Langston as the E's new "World's Strongest Man"?
Also, which is more likely for Cena-Orton: do they book it as the "Last Time These Two Will Ever Face Off," or as a "Once In A Lifetime Title Unification"? | SchippeWreck

I like that idea. Kind of an homage to WrestleMania X.
I suppose they could just do Orton vs Cena with only one or no titles on the line. Whether it's a unification match or not, I feel like this match is logical right now since Cena lost the WWE Title at SummerSlam and it feels weird for him to not be involved in the Authority angle at all. The Del Rio feud lacked life because it was so disconnected from the main story with the main guy.
Cena/Orton may have been overdone at one point, but they haven't faced each other one-on-one since, what, 2010? 2009? I know they wrestled each other a million times, but it's been quite a while and they've both maintained their main event status to the point where they make sense as the two guys in a unification match. I'd take Orton/Cena over another Orton/Bryan match after this past fall.

Yeah, and I actually like the idea of them doing it in a ladder match, because that has greater potential for a definitive ending (no possibility for DQ or countout, clear end to the match). I guess the title swap is possible, because WWE, but I'm guessing the stip would be like Razor/HBK at WM10 where you have to get both belts.

| #16 Posted on 25.11.13 1539.40 Reposted on: 25.11.20 1539.42 | The first match was one helluva ride. I like the story that they can tell by having Ambrose being eliminated first. Even Rollins got to pin someone! So they can throw that in his face when he brags to his buddies about being a champion. Reigns looked like a machine, killing 4 guys with those spears.
The IC match was there. Cena/AdR was as pointed out "every Cena match ever" Divas match..wow that was hilarious. The series of eliminations..wow... And seriously, AJ is so much better than any other woman there. Basically because she actually has a character... but now we'll probably get Natty challenging her? Oh well at least this time she didn't release the submission before the bell rang.
Bryan/Punk vs Wyatts was a fun entertaining match. Though the pacing seemed to get a bit..weird and disjointed at some point, or so it seemed. Did anyone else have that? Harper stood around for a bit, then tagged Rowan who slammed Bryan a few times (after Harper talked to him) It seemed that just prior Harper tweaked his knee so maybe they were stalling, but it seemed to suck lots of momentum out of the match..
Orton/Show..my attention definitely wasn't there and when my feed cut out with 5 minutes to go I didn't even care. Seems I missed out of rolling my eyes.
All in all I was entertained, though I could've done without the last match. | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
