I saw a great deal on a 32inch TV that I want to use as a monitor. I looked for a VGA to HDMI monitor converter. The thing is, I keep seeing some people say they work great, but others say they do not work at all. I have read some reviews and they say that I would need some special converter box. Not sure which would be the best way to go, or if there IS a best way to go. Anybody have any experience with this? Promote this thread! | | RecklessEric

The reason it stopped working was, i think, because it was the cheap version. All I needed was the vga to hdmi converter with audio wire. Examples: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=vga+to+hdmi+converter+with+audio+support&N=-1&isNodeId=1 (deleted by RecklessEric on 24.11.13 0413)

The cable is the same at each end, kinda trapezoidal with the screws on either side to tighten the connection. For the audio, we used the cord I had used to connect my iPod to my car stereo. It's connected from the laptop headphones input to the "VGA audio in" on the back of the TV. My TV has a mode to switch to VGA, and that's all I have to do to get the laptop to display on the TV.
These look like the cables I have.

I honestly have no idea how it works, because my boyfriend set the whole thing up, but it works absolutely perfectly. | StaggerLee
