Sorry. I don't have a lot of words for this one.

Lou Reed, Velvet Underground Leader and Rock Pioneer, Dead at 71 (rollingstone.com)

Edit: My favorite rendition of Sweet Jane. This really has bummed me out.

When I was young Lou Reed both during and after his Velvet Underground days was constantly either on my turntable (and later cassette and CD) or in my head. Songs that exposed all aspects of life and often in a weird way celebrated it. Transformer, Berlin, New York, and the list goes on an on. Incredible lyrics and music.

And for all you guitarists out there, he never got credit for the player he was.

Lou Reed is probably the only "classic" music I am willing to listen to often. "walk" is, I suppose, my favorite song. And Velvet Underground such an innovative group. As rock geezers go, Reed might have been, with Neil Young, the only one I might have been willing to see live in their old age.

Man, he was good.
