(We thought it belonged to her ex-fiancee, but he said it wasn't his and that he'd never use a piece of crap like that.) The moisture sensor's tripped, but it works, and I tried to sell the phone on eBay. Not even so much as a nibble.
So since no one wanted to pay five bucks for it, I figured there's got to be some sort of creative use for this phone. It's a Virgin mobile phone, and I have an iPhone on AT&T, so there's no way I'd use it for its intended purpose. However, I rooted it and installed Cyanogenmod on the phone (if I break it, I was going to recycle it anyway), bringing it up from Gingerbread to Jellybean. Once I did that, I { Sorry, you must be logged in to see this text! } pretty much left it alone.
What could I do with a functional Android phone that doesn't involve activating it? I turned the cell data off, so it's basically Wi-Fi only, and while I don't really need a second phone, I'd seriously consider installing Skype or something else that could do voice-only calls for free. (No video because of no front-facing camera.) But I'm not really married to the idea of using it as a phone, per se. | Promote this thread! |             | thecubsfan

I was told my phone company would charge higher rates if I used it Mexico and it would not work with a different SIM, but it turned out the phone service would actually not work at all under any circumstances. I picked up a cheap Android phone just so I'd have the security of a working phone while being far from familiar places.
I haven't figure out a great answer. If I do travel outside of the country again, I won't have to buy a phone to use a foreign SIM card, but that doesn't help the other 50 some weeks of the year and may not help you at all.
Depending on your setup, and how much you use your TV, you could use it as an extra remote. There are plenty of free Remote apps on the Play Store. I use one called RCX for TiVo that I'd recommend, but obviously it's one that works just with TiVo. All the apps seem dependent on what you're using. | theremin

Best idea so far. And on that "take your stunt phone places you dont feel comfortable taking your real phone" note, whenever I have to crawl under the house, I always bring my old phone with me to take pics of plumbing, wiring, etc while I'm down there. | Guru Zim
