So, remember when Google's cache system was changed from its initial (perfectly acceptable) design, so that two "arrows" would magically appear next to your search results and provide a quick screengrab of what the site looks like?

Well, they've now replaced that system again, this time with a little - and even more easily missed, might I add - green arrow next to each link (searchengineland.com) ... I don't know why, but I find this to be a totally unnecessary (and frustrating) move on their part, especially since the "snapshot" aspect has seemingly been removed entirely (you actually have to visit the cached version of the page itself to see its contents), plus the green arrow (ignimgs.com) doesn't even show up on many of my results.

Thoughts?

To the contrary, I remember eons (months?) ago when they used to have a blue "Cached" link almost exactly where this green arrow is now so it was much easier to look at the cache then than navigating the hoops and hurdles (ok, extra click) they set up with the arrow thing... so I see it as a welcome return to some functionality they've misplaced. I wasn't keen on the thumbnail display, though. I reckon lots of people will miss it - and it will reappear in three to six months (unless of course they had some reason involving money for making the change the way it is now).
