The sound editing award was just the third time in Oscar history that there's been a tie vote. The other two were more high profile acting awards (Best Actor in 1932 and best Actress in 1968) but yeah, it's perhaps a bit surprising that this doesn't happen more often.
I love that Ang Lee has made three of the best movies of the last 12 years (Life of Pi, Brokeback, Crouching Tiger) yet the internet fanboy crowd thinks he's a hack for a friggin' Hulk movie. | Amos Cochran

Its a fucking disaster. Its an art house super hero movie with shitty editing. Worst Marvel comic book that they rebooted it. Its one of the few reboots that deserve to happen. The final scene with Nolte going crazy and fight is cinema garbage.
I have seen CGI water, tigers and fish done well. I have not seen a good Hulk til now. Also, Sky fall should have won cinematography.

I did pretty well in my Oscar pool, so I have no complaints about the winners. I didn't predict Ang Lee winning, but was really happy he did and I thought he was the one that should have won.
Argo wasn't the best movie of last year, but it was the one I was fine with winning because it did a lot right and was a fun watch. I'd rather see that win than some period piece Oscar bait nonsense. | KJames199

I managed to see all nine Best Picture nominees before the Oscars, wrapping up Amour as the red carpet pre-show was starting. I thought Life of Pi was the best of the bunch and Les Misérables was the only one I actively disliked.

They latch onto the teleprompter like a lifeboat. Adele makes her living before audiences, and she had more stage presence than some tippy-top actresses.
I want more filmed segments and fewer live skits. It's a movie show. Make it more like a movie.

It's actually the fourth time. There was a tie for Best Live-Action Short in 1994 (between Trevor and Franz Kafka's It's a Wonderful Life).
After seeing Life of Pi, I knew it would win Cinematography. I may not have liked it but that was a gorgeous movie. The only one of the nominated films I didn't see was the documentary The Gatekeepers. Hopefully I can go 100% next year.

I also watched every minute of the Oscars, and I enjoyed the show overall. I enjoyed Seth as host, and I thought his bit with Shatner worked (especially the boobs in film song). I wouldn't mind seeing him do it again.
I was so happy that Argo won. I was even more happy that QT and especially Christoph Waltz won. Daniel Day-Lewis had the speech of the night in my mind.
My favorite part though was the orchestra playing the theme to Jaws after a few of the winners prattled on and on and ON. | Quezzy

I think they have plenty of people that are good enough stage performers they just need to use them. Everything was either a musical number or something with MacFarlane and any time all of your skits include the host you're going to be limited to their abilities.
It also would help if the musical numbers weren't so dull. I'm all for Adele belting out a number but the rest was pretty boring. I realize they chose movies in which the actors were alive and available but their tribute to the best musicals of all-time couldn't include a Singin' in the Rain number or some Fred Astaire/Ginger Rogers? Or why not Moulin Rouge? McGregor and Kidman were more relevant this year than any of the Chicago cast. They need some more upbeat and light-hearted music instead of all melodrama.
Of course more performance means cutting some awards so that's probably not going to ever happen. | Teapot

Part of the reason why this show loaded up on the Chicago nostalgia was that the producers of the telecast this year also were producers for the movie. (They also are the new producers of the TV show Smash, so that might be why they had Jennifer Hudson, who's on that show, singing her big Dreamgirls number.) |
