All-Star Saturday conference captains are Miami's Dwayne Wade and L.A. Clippers' Chris Paul. The performance of each conference in the Slam Dunk, Shooting Stars, Skills Challenge and Three-Point Shootout will determine how much their teams give to charity (compared to the other one).
The Rising Stars Challenge rosters were put together by a draft between Shaquille O'Neal and Charles Barkley. For some reason I can't shake the hilarious image of David Stern calling them each up one-by-one after five minutes on the clock. Lillard comes up, shakes hands with the commissioner and gets handed a copy of Shaq-Fu for Sega Genesis and a ballcap.

The NBA has an embarrassment of riches at PG. How did we end up with the absolute dregs for this contest?

Mmmmm-hmmm. Compare this to the participants in the inaugural 2003 contest:
Jason Kidd, New Jersey Nets (future Hall-of-Famer) Gary Payton, Seattle SuperSonics (future Hall-of-Famer) Stephon Marbury, Phoenix Suns Tony Parker, San Antonio Spurs (future Hall-of-Famer)
In '06 we had LeBron James, Steve Nash, Chris Paul and Dwayne Wade, first-ballot Hall-of-Famers all. Even last year we had a respectable lineup of Stephen Curry, Kyrie Irving, Tony Parker, John Wall, Russell Westbrook and Deron Williams.
So, yeah. This is arguably the worst lineup for the Skills Contest yet. | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
