Yeah, I don't think Benedict is Khan, but I do think the blonde is Carol Marcus.

Space, the scowling frontier.

Also, it's Star Trek Into Darkness, a sentence. Not Star Trek II: Into Darkness.

Benedict Cumberbatch is not Khan, he's Gary Mitchell. Fixating on Khan leads to putting a II in the title of the movie where it doesn't belong. The new Star Trek movie series is number and colon-free.

I'm dying to see this thing.

My knowledge of Star Trek extends to the JJ Abrams remake, but I'm really looking foward to this. Can Iz bee Trekkie now?

You have to be more insufferable to be a Trekkie. You can be a Star Trek fan though, no problem.

I imagine the villain could be anybody. In the alternate universe, it stands to reason that Kirk hasn't even met Gary Mitchell yet, and Khan and his followers are still asleep on the Botany Bay.

That would be fun! With a techno-organic arm to explain the humorously large gun he's swinging around nonchalantly. Protoborg in the shape of a former crew-mate. Neat!

Reading some of the references in this thread alone I think I'm taking a casual fan stance for now. Is this how the typical John Cena fan feels when they talk pro-wrestling with me?

I could have sworn that it was leaked a year ago that it was Gary Mitchell. Last year at Comic Con, I think.

I like the Khan theory in the link. We'll see, I guess.

Yeah, the Khan theory is a bit of stretch, but who knows. I got a feeling that the entire Benedict is a cannon character is a dodge.

I don't see why it's a big deal whether or not he's Khan. I don't really care either way, although I think Star Trek has never been about the villains as each villain is disposable from episode to episode or movie to movie (unless it's someone like Q).

I like the idea of Cumberbatch just being a rogue Starfleet guy who's a standalone villain for this one movie. Putting Khan in a Starfleet uniform seems like a bit too convoluted way to hide him if he really is Khan.

Looks cool, though. Loved what Abrams did with the last one. Hope this one keeps up the awesome.

Khan is arguably the most popular villain in Star Trek history, and this is the second JJ Abrams Star Trek movie, so there's natural interest and anticipation that Abrams is rebooting Khan.

I think this is the right attitude. The way Internet movie sites have been analyzing the 9 minutes of IMAX footage like it's the Zapruder film has already gotten ridiculous.
