He's not the show's boss Nazi; that's the Admiral who comes to enlist Navy Captain Von Trapp back into service. But Zeller is the boo-hiss Nazi who makes Frederich looks sympathetic. The baroness and Max have a song not used in the film, and their appeasement stances are much stronger onstage. This is one reason Von Trapp goes after Maria instead of the baroness. She's too eager to work with the bad guys.
I'm all for broadcasting stage shows, and I hoped Bravo or Ovation would work a deal with Broadway shows to air some of those, even if it's like the MET in HD broadcasts to movie theatres. I remember ABC broadcasting The Elephant Man play decades ago, and HBO used to show stage shows like Barefoot in the Park, Gabe Kaplan's Groucho show, and the original Peewee Herman stage show. More channels should do this. Heck, air old Tony broadcasts. I'll watch them. | The Goon
