Reposted on: 19.10.19 0047.04 | PWI (Pro Wrestling Illustrated) one of the last print wrestling magazines, has released the digital version of the issue coming out in January 2013. The period covered for consideration was from Sep. 1 2011-Aug. 30 2012. The list takes heavily into consideration Kayfabe (win-loss record, promotional "push" , Championships held and duration, ) and prominence (primarily due to appearing on TV/PPV as well as to a lesser extent working for "major" Indy promotions). Quality of opposition & perceived wrestling talent are also supposedly factors though the numbers don't seem to reflect it. They also ONLY consider work done in Canada & the U.S. & therefore we don't see very many "international" talents. And the PWI writers admit they don't follow the scene as closely as most fans do, so many people are already up in arms about certain wrestlers placements. I will say that while most of the people on the list deserve recognition, IMO some don't. The list has been reported by both Diva-dirt.com (where I directly C&P'd the names from) as well as ringbellesonline.com & they have some of their own insight. I have added the prominent promotions the individuals wrestled for & noted current champions. Don't take that info as comprehensive as it's off the top of my head & most Indy wrestlers work for numerous large and small promotions.

A few thoughts.
I believe I've stated it before but; with the activity of women's wrestling both in North America and around the world, it's time IMO that there be at least a North American 100 if not a World 250 ( It's conceivable to do more but depending on high they go it'd be scraping the barrel to name deserving talent)
Last year's No.1 Madison Eagles is not on the list. She came to the US as Shimmer Champion in October 2011 and lost the Title to Melissa then took the rest of the year off due to several injuries & is still inactive with the possibility she may not ever be able to return.
The one name on the list I personally feel hasn't done enough anywhere significant is Brittany Force who once again is ranked. I don't claim to know everything about what everyone is doing but do feel I follow things enough to say that she hasn't generated much *buzz* about her name out amongst the fans. I'm not taking away from any talent she may have but I've only seen very little of her myself & heard even less about her.
Thankfully this is the last year Kelly Kelly will be taking up space a better wrestler deserves. The Divas & Knockout's in general rank high based primarily on their exposure with Kelly and Miss Tessmacher the clear examples there. To a lesser extent Tamina & Alicia Fox as well.
The actual "ranking" of the various talent is subject to any individuals opinion of each wrestler so I'm not going to fret too much about what specific number anyone is but personally do feel some rearranging is in order.

Yeah, Miss Tessmacher over a lot of these women is a bit of a stretch especially Mickie James and Mischief. Its really hard to argue against the top four. No AJ is a bit odd. | OndaGrande

Yeah, but AJ is currently above this list. AJ, to her surprise, spent the last 10 months in three different roles (Daniel's girl, crazy girl dating Daniel/Punk/Kane, RAW GM) that required no wrestling and left her currently more prominent than any woman on this list. Funny how things work out sometimes.
I would argue against Beth Phoenix as number 2. Half the time she was Divas Champion she was practically invisible, she lost the title to Nikki Bella in April and went back to being invisible and irrelevant, except for trotting her out to be jobbed out of the company.
