SBC was in character of course and some of what he said was amusing, but he ended up repeating too much material. The film, however, turned out to be far better than I feared it would be. I loved Borat, but hated Bruno so I was fine with the idea of him turning to fully scripted comedy.
I've posted my review here (http://londonfilmfanatiq.com) for those interested in such things. If you're into offensive humour, check it out. It's some goofy, mean-spirtited fun.
Edit to say it's spoiler-free, because I don't do spoilers.

I do do spoilers, but I wrote a brief review (backofthehead.com) with far fewer spoilers than I'm usually prone to. Too many hilarious jokes I don't want to ruin. Sacha Baron Cohen's work always crushes me. I enjoyed The Dictator a lot. (Disclosure: I liked Bruno. Though not nearly as much as I loved Borat. The Dictator is in the middle, upticking towards Borat for me.) | blackdragon

| #3 Posted on 17.5.12 1343.19 Reposted on: 17.5.19 1343.28 | Please tell me you're one of those guys that liked Bruno but can understand why I didn't care for it? It's like to me, Borat was okay and Bruno was just there, but some people automatically assume that if you don't like something "you just don't understand it." No, sometimes I just don't like stuff because it doesn't appeal to me. I understand the appeal of coffee but I don't like it. Anyway, I'm still on the fence about the Dictator and one day I will remember to try to read one of your reviews away from work (your site gets filtered as a blog or some such nonsense_ | Dutchie

This was one of those movies that seems like it gave everything good away in the trailers, and there were a good deal of things that we *knew* were coming, but they were still great. [I knew the helicopter bit was coming from the previews, but I still couldn't breathe at the end of that part]. Plenty of other things that were funny too. It was a good blend of genuinely funny ha-ha, shocking funny gasp, and totally un-PC funny gasp-into-ha-ha moments. | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
