Bigger attendence than the Logan Square show last year, though it's a much bigger building than what they ran last time. They were in Chicago Ridge as part of a day night double header with Ring Of Honor.

Swarm/Shard (heels!) came thru the crowd for the opening match, and the Colony rushed out to fight them. Match was fast paced and a lot of fun really the whole way thru. The story here are the heels are all evil/broken mirror versions of the tecnicos, and the theory is they're ex-CHIKARA guys coming back for revenge. I really feel like I've seen the Shard specifically before. After a few new finishes for both sides, Soldier Ant defeated evil clone combatANT.

Mixed Martial Archie is former bandleader Archibald Peak being serious now - or really not as much serious as an dedicated MMA fighter parody. MMA spots as comedy, from requiring a fist pound at the start of the match before the match to a post match inteview (cut short when the referee noted Archie had failed to pin his opponent.) Kobald's spear worked the first time, got him triangled the second time.

The Throwbacks match was an extended story about how Mr. Touchdown is not a team player and not a Good Guy, but the team still won because evil works when the referee isn't paying attention. Football helmet to the head did it.

Tianlong was debuting as a graduate of the CHIKARA Wrestle Factory. He did not do that degree well, losing in about a minute and looking very much like an indy guy under a mask. (They may be up to something here.) 17 is part of the Shard/Swarm group, his name supposedly representing 17 forgotten holds he knows. We determined he used hold #3 to win this. Prove me wrong! 17 is the evil version of (currently injured) Mike Quackenbush, and everyone's figured out Quack's old partner Reckless Youth would be a 17 year veteran if he happened to be wrestling under a mystery identity right this moment, but I don't know enough of Youth to tell if this was him in a minute.

This was the first time I saw Young Bucks "no handshake" shirt. It is good. I did not like the Bucks themselves here - I don't know exactly why, but I think it was generally the way things get sold and not sold just enough to set up their next three stops. Corbin/Arik were much more likable (but then they were the faces so there you go.) Got a feeling the Bucks are challenging for the tag teams really soon.

During the intermission, Hallowicked's was taking ($20!) pictures. A costly decision, for Tim Donst jumped him and stole the Young Lion's Cup. This mean Hallowicked was in no shape for his match after intermission, which made it 3 on 4. That didn't turn out to be that big of a deal where you still have 3, though the rudos worked together well (and celebrated with bottles of water?) Delirious, who has issue with Ultramantis, came out to be a distraction, then Hallowicked came out to attack Donst. Those four all went to the back, and 3.0 beat Jakob for the win.

Steen wasn't going to win the CHIKARA title and Steen isn't going to lose on a ROH-associated show before his title match, so I was expecting something besides a clean finish. Here, it was a low blow, done more out of jerkiness than desperation. Steen counted his own pinfall and motioned as if he was going to urinate on the belt, but Kingston ran them off. Before that, this was a hard hitting match. I didn't get into as much as other people; Steen is very talented, but looks like a whale, and does a lot of sarcastic talking during his match. Plenty of people love him, almost everyone on the ROH show.

A lot like the last match, Akuma had to be winning his match, because he had to win to stay in the promotion and he probably wasn't going to lose his career on a show in Chicago Ridge when he's booked the next day. 3 on 1 got old after a little bit, but they did okay with it. Gregory Iron came out to help, and Akuma rolled up Gargano to keep his title.

Generico and Sara del Rey was really great. Story was Generico was not down with hitting a woman, then she hit him enough times to change his mind. SDR trapped Generico in the ropes and walloped him with kicks for a while, posed, stepped back in the ring, and was absolutely destroyed by a Generico kick to the face. That was crazy and sucked me in. Mostly what you'd expect from these two, a lot of sharp stuff, with the group regular beating the person only in for the night. They hugged and raised each other's arms after the match, and the show ended there.

They're back in Logan Square on November 10th. Should be a fun time!
