In the latest of rare occurences, we get The Avengers next week, a week before the US. However, this past Saturday, there was a series of "fan" screenings globally and I was able to get in to the London one.
One of the benefits of being an upstart film critic is being able to get into most press screenings, but on the ocassion one is missed and it's embargoed (such as The Avengers), if I see it outside of a press screening, I can publish away. And so I posted my spoiler-free review a couple days ago. I address how the film works on the whole and how the characters are used. The plot has been kept underwraps and I abide by that. Besides, it doesn't matter that much. Where Nolan's Batman films are social commentary dressed in comic form, The Avengers is just action packed fun.
As the fates would have it, while I missed the press screening, I will be covering the Avengers press conference in town on Thursday before heading over to do media stuff on the red carpet for the European premiere. A first for me on both counts and this is pretty major. I may channel my inner Daniel Bryan the whole day.

I'm not gonna read the review cause I want to be suprised or disappointed at the screening, but that's not why I'm posting. I just want to say how much I love that gif of Little Naitch as your sig!

As yours is the first review I've sniffed of "Avengers", I'm glad it's off to a positive vibe.
I'm guessing it's being billed as "Avengers Assemble" in the UK to avoid confusion with the Emma Peel/John Steed stuff. Yes, it seems silly to us youngsters, but I could understand that reasoning.

Very nice review! I'm almost stoked to see it opening weekend with the bajillion other people who usually make my movie-going experience as miserable as possible. Almost.

I'm going to go see the Avengers tonight. We didn't have the marathon option here, but to me it seems a bit pointless to do the marathon since the movies don't really have a true common theme other than the post-credit scene (unlike LoTR or Harry Potter)
Having said that, I did watch the 2 Iron Man movies over the weekend. I've seen the others in the past few months on BD so I remember those well enough >:)

I love the Electra Woman & Dyna Girl villain cameo there.

OMFG. The movie was amazing. The review by Lord of the Manor is pretty spot on. Everyone gets their own little spot light, and acting is pretty good imo. Going in, I didn't like the way Banner was portrayed by Ruffalo. But he too plays the character very well.
And yes there is an extra scene. It's not far into the credits. And....OMFG!!!!!!!!

This is pretty much the best superhero movie ever made. Crackles with fun and charisma. So many great one-liners. A PERFECT Banner and Hulk. Two-and-a-half hours but so good you'll want twice as much.

Just came back from Acura's advanced screening... even shown in 3D! There's a lot of motion and several dark scenes so don't know if the 3D was worth it. This movie is great. I was pleasantly surprised Maria Hill got a bigger part than just standing in the background as Nick Fury barks orders to her. The Hulk was really awesome. Didn't bother to stay for the 2nd post-credits scene because I read what it was and didn't seem worth it (was getting late). Go See It!

Hulk. Go Smash.
Just saw it a few hours ago. I'm still trying to process why it was so great. That's how it's done Hollywood! I'm watching it again, plus it had a new trailer for Spider-Man. One that looks interesting.
Now bring on the new Dark Knight film, Avengers was just... I wanna titty-fuck it's ass!
