Boy, I really thought more would happen. I guess I should have started a Monta Ellis thread.

As I type this, the Beasley deal never happened. I hope the Lakers are happy with ex-Timberwolf Ramon Sessions!

Here's a grab from ESPN as I type this laying out what (probably/may have) went down:

  • Howard officially won't opt out of Magic deal (image removed)
  • Sources: Lakers get PG Sessions from Cavs
  • Sources: Rockets have deal to acquire Camby
  • Sources: Nets have deal for Blazers' Wallace
  • Source: Warriors, Spurs talking Jackson trade
  • 76ers acquire swingman Young from Grizzlies
  • Report: Raptors deal Barbosa, Carter to Pacers
  • Sources: Beasley-to-Lakers trade talk heats up
  • Knicks coach D'Antoni resigns (image removed) | Stephen A.
  • Lucas lifts Rose-less Bulls past Heat (image removed) | Blog
  • Thorpe: Phil Jackson, John Calipari fit Knicks (image removed)

  • I'm happy that Wolves ended up doin' nothin'. I could have handled the rumoured Beasley deal to bring Crawford here, but I prefer handling Beas staying around at least through the end of the season.

Oh...that's a fine trade on paper, but Kobe's going to be PISSED about losing his best buddy. If the Lakers were so desperate to dump salary, why not ship off Metta World Artest? SOMEBODY would have taken him! (EDIT: Because the Lakers haven't used their amnesty. And now that Luke Walton's albatross of a contract is gone, they're now in prime position to amnesty Artest in the offseason, freeing up a ton of cap space in the process. This turned out to be a slick series of moves.)

The Sessions trade was a great one that offloaded the obscene Luke Walton contract. Had the Lakers stopped there, it would have been a great day. But they didn't. Sad face.

The Clippers have been having such a great season! Why would they ruin the chemistry by adding a ballhogging, shoot-first bonehead like Nick Young?

I'm even more baffled by Denver here. They dumped off a perfectly decent center for the Human Blooper Reel that is Javale McGee? What are they thinking? After getting put through the wringer by Carmelo last year, hasn't George Karl suffered enough?

I think Denver got scared of what Nene was becoming now that he got paid. Also they are now able to sign Wilson Chandler to the deal he wants Click Here (espn.go.com). A George Karl team isn't a George Karl team without one knucklehead, and Chandler is a total Karl type of player.

George Karl will not put up with JaVale McGee's bullshit for very long. He's gonna make an actual basketball player out of that assclown or die trying.

I like that the Pacers only had to give up a second-rounder to get Leandro Barbosa.

Hope no one on Houston was looking particularly forward to having Derek Fisher around.

Derek Fisher, Houston Rockets finalizing buyout, according to source

The Houston Rockets are finalizing a buyout with former Los Angeles Lakers guard Derek Fisher, according to a league source.

Fisher, 37, had played in 537 consecutive games prior to being dealt to the Rockets.

Fisher had made no public statements since his surprising trade from the franchise he'd won five championships with. Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak admitted that he hadn't given Fisher or his representatives a heads up that a trade was in the works, and that he understood if he was "emotional" over the situation.

I wonder if Fish retires after this. I'm sure the Lakers would love to have him around as a coach to help keep Kobe in line.
