Impact started off with a really well done video package going over the happenings in the main event at Against All Odds with sound bites from a frustrated Hardy and a overjoyed Roode. I liked how they’re not going to a Hardy-Sting feud as I feared as Hardy realizes Sting that Sting accidentally nailed him with the title. Roode started off the show with good mic work and drew good heat from the usually apathetic Impact Zone crowd. I liked how he had Christie announce him as the world champ yet again, and reminded Sting that he helped him keep the title getting under Stings skin. Stings promo was short and to the point setting up the Hardy-Roode match, and for once the added stips made sense as Roode had escaped title matches with Hardy by getting dq'd twice and escaped another title match vs Styles with a time limit draw. My major complaint is just giving away the match unadvertised instead of building up the match for a week and popping a rating or at least having the match in the Main Event.

The Roode-Hardy match was a very solid match that got seventeen minutes and told a good story with Hardy playing the pissed off desperate baby face who mostly dominated the match up with Roode capitalizing on Hardy’s over zealousness. I would have liked to have seen Roode get more offense in the match. Angle getting involved in the match did not really make any sense since the last time he was on TV he came out on the losing end of his feud with Storm. I would have loved to have seen Roode go over Hardy clean as Hardy is bullet proof and a clean loss would not have hurt him. Gotta give Roode credit to Roode for that awesome spear that finished Hardy off. I liked Roode’s backstage confronation with Sting and Sting also setting up a #1 contenders match between Storm and Ray because they both had visual pins in the Main Event with the ref down.

Glad they spent time talking about Sorensen injury and I hope he will be able to return to wrestling. I hope he does not push himself too hard to try and rush back ala Angle. The X division match that has Aries and Ion Vs Shelley and Moore was disappointing because the match only got three and a half minutes and did not have much flow. I really did not like having Shelley do the job in the match with the utterly useless Shannon Moore right there. I really was hoping we’d get a best of five of seven series between Aries and Shelley, which would reignite the X division for sure. Aries is a awesome heel champion but he needs to have a strong face to play of like Shelley and not another heel like Ion.

The Knockouts battle royal was pretty bad and the ring intros took almost as much time as the match. The early going was ridiculous with all those absurdly fast eliminations. Mickie James was a compete afterthought in the match. I thought that she was headed for a heel turn, but after her comments on Garrett she might be headed for a burial. Madison Rayne winning was expected as it seems like we’re headed toward a split between her and Gail, and a Gail face turn. I really wish they'd push Sarita already as she's the best female performer in the company.

The video package on the Bischoffs saga was a complete waste of time as was Bischoffs promo. The X division match got cut short for this dreck? Nah no need to have Daniels and Styles on the show, but lets have this crap on instead. Chelsea is back to give the aging Bischoff some eye candy. I would not be surprised if Garrett steals Chelsea so we see that Garrett is a ladies man like his dad. My goodness how awful. The future endeavor line was pathetic.

With Russo gone I had hoped that we would not see Eric Young taking up air time, but unfortunately I was wrong. I do not understand why they waste time on this lame act.

Bully Ray Vs Storm was a very good match that got around twelve minutes, and told a really good story, with Ray going after Storm’s leg hoping to stop Storm from hitting him with the last call super kick. Ray even pulled off Storm's boot. Ray is such an awesome heel as he plays his character perfectly and is such a dbag. He is really doing the best work of his career on the mic and in the ring. Storm won by hitting him with the super kick with the leg Ray didn't work on. The whole Ray-Jacobs thing was well done. I hope this doesn't lead to a match though.

I liked that we got post match remarks from Storm and I was very happy that Storm-Roode was booked for Lockdown because I was afraid that we would get Roode-Storm at Victory Road to set up Roode Vs Sting at Lockdown. The Roode beat down on Sting tells me that we will get Sting Vs Roode at Victory Road in a non title match. Roode better win that one.

All in all, this was a good show with two pretty good long matches. Roode dominated the show getting a ton of air time which was nice to see. The Bischoff and Young stuff did not get too much time even with my complaints about it.The knockouts match was dreadful though. This was a good start to
the post Russo era of TNA.

Ray is so far and beyond what everyone else is doing. Add to this his considerable change in physique, and he has everything they require for a champ. PUSH HIM NOW.

Ray's gonna get poached by WWE this year, methinks. With their paucity of main event heels a recognisable quantity who can talk AND work would be a godsend for them.

I don't think WWE will get him if they do, he will get a squash match then be jobbed to the mid-card or they will bring him and D-Von back to try and put over the tag teams. Either way, it would be a waste of time to what he is doing now. All battle royals tend to go from really good to just terrible, there is rarely a middle of the road one. The KO wasn't bad, I mean they did get over 30 seconds and probably the entire match time was all the divas matches combined for the last two months.

Roode/James should be at Lockdown, so it can be bloody and feel like a big event. I am a little disappointed they are going to push a guy who almost paralyzed another wrestler on Sunday instead of a fan favorite like Shelly. Maybe they will make it a three way at Victory Road, but I think it was a mistake to put Austin Aries over when Shelly has this much fan support.

I have no issue with Aries holding onto the title. He has done a tremendous job and is really over whenever TNA takes Impact on the road and at house shows. He is a tremendous all around performer that needs that one big feud with a top babyface he could really sink his teeth into. I really believe that feud is with Shelley or even AJ Styles if they move him back to the X division when his feud with Daniels and Kaz ends.

Other than the obvious reason--Eric is the executive producer--why has the awful, unover Garett stuff been one of the only two storylines recapped in the opening the last few weeks?

Doing a cheap finish for the PPV main event to set up a title match with no build on TV 4 days later remains shortsighted. Whatever. The match was good, though the layout didn't help Roode much. I dislike the idea of doing Angle/Hardy. Angle should take more time off. He was really banged up a month ago.

The X tag was underwhelming. Why can't X TV matches get more than 4-5 minutes? Moore has gotten slow and sloppy. Why was the match laid out to give him most of the big moves? Why was he protected by a finish 2x in a week? I'm bummed that they're done with the Aries/Shelley singles feud, which has been great for the little time it has gotten and is the best X feud they can currently run, and Shelley may be moving down a peg in favor of Ion, who isn't as over, I think isn't nearly as good as the other two, and may only be in this position because of that botch at the PPV. Taking what was apparently the one great thing from the PPV and possibly best current on paper feud/match up and either dropping it so soon or weakening it by adding another guy makes no sense to me.

That battle royal wasn't good. The last couple minutes were rough. This wasn't Christy Hemme's night either.

I'm so sick of the Bischoff's. It's odd to tease Garett being done when he's working this week's house show loop.

I expected more from Storm vs. Bully Ray, but it was fine. I'm glad they're doing Roode/Storm at Lockdown instead of something with Sting or Hardy. I hope they figure out a way to recapture the heat Roode/Storm had right after Bound For Glory because it has lost a lot of heat and had the potential to be such a great, hot program. Having Storm sell for most of the match and get the win out of no where to earn the title shot doesn't help matters.

Moving AJ back to the X division would not be a bad idea at all. It would give the X division the star influx it needs and Styles taking on Aries would lead to moty contenders and Aries could carry the feud on the mic. Come to think of it get rid of the TV title and move Daniels and Kazarian back to the X division too.

Impact was a very enjoyable show

What I didn't like: Really? Just the Bischoff segment because I don't give a crap about that storyline or the talents involved. The fact that they are still referring to Immortal as a stable is pathetic too. I mean, its Gunner & the two dudes in his corner. That's it.

Everything else though:

- Starting off the show with Hardy Vs. Roode actually made some kind of sense. Based on what happened at AAO, the story for now is Sting Vs. Roode, but Sting wanted to make up for accidentally screwing Hardy at the PPV. Its something that needed to be addressed and Sting basically told Hardy he's sorry by giving him this match and its all water under the bridge. And it was made No DQ so Roode couldn't cheat his way out of it like he did at Genesis. All well and good, and then the match itself was pretty good as well and made for a nice TV match. Angle's interference & the loss will keep Hardy out of the title picture for now while Roode works with Sting & Storm in the future.

- I did appreciate the update on Sorenson. That injury sounded awful and looked awful at the PPV. Great to hear he's getting better and is expected to make a full recovery down the line. I wish Jesse all the best. As for the X Division match, it was OK. Solid. Moore is awful and I wish he wasn't in it, but I'm really digging Zema Ion and fit right in there with Shelley & Aries.

- Knockouts Battle Royal...I thought it was a fun little match. I didn't have a problem with it. The finish reeked of Russo who I can't blame because he's no longer there. However, the match itself was fun and at least we got to see some of the talents we haven't seen in a while. It really made the KO Roster look bigger than it usually does. So we got a partnership breaking up to give us Gail/Madison. They are doing that angle quite a bit, huh? I mean Roode/Storm, AJ/Kaz/Daniels, this, they wrapped up Pope/Devon at Genesis, and Morgan/Crimson is coming. Oh well.

- Joe/Magnus promo was solid...I'm still worried about who they are going to get to face these guys though. They literally have no tag teams left.

- Not going to lie: The Eric Young Love Ballad to ODB was funny. Comedy in wrestling done moderately well?!?! What the hell is this?!?!

- Brandon Jacobs was used well enough on this show. The bit at the end with Bully Ray came off well I thought, and the dude looks like he belongs on a Wrestling show at least. Of course I'm also a Giants fan, so I was happy to see him, ha ha.

- And to carry off of that, I thought the Storm/Ray main event match was again, very good. I was impressed with the outing these two had to close Impact a few weeks ago in the UK. This match was completely different and very well put together with Storm selling his leg injury. The show was bookended by some very solid matches. I actually wish those had been the AAO PPV matches in a way. Roode Vs. Hardy No DQ & Ray Vs. Storm for the Title shot at Lockdown with Brandon Jacobs involved were much better than the four way, but whatever.

- And then the closing segment. First of all, kudos to TNA for saving Storm/Roode for the title until Lockdown. Great call and they've got time to build up a big & personal match that will take place outside of the Impact Zone. Great. And Roode finally beating the crap out of Sting was a great visual to close the show with. So it will probably be Sting Vs. Roode at the next PPV, which I am completely fine with.

So yeah, I gotta give the thumbs up to TNA here. It was a very good show this week.

I agree. I could definitely see him winning the title from Storm(after he wins it at Lockdown) sometime this summer. That is if he re-signs with TNA, as his contract is up in August. I'm sure Devon would like to go back to the WWE because TNA is doing nothing with him, but tag team wrestling is dead in the WWE and Ray going back into a tag team would be a total waste of him. I think it's all depends if the WWE would be willing to use him as singles competitor and push him like TA has in the last year. I am ot so sure they'd do that.

I mocked the knockouts match, but if not for that match the show would have gotten even a worse rating. Might be time to have two knockouts matches per show.

I keep hearing about how no one cares about women's wresting then you see the breakdown of the ratings, you see that the KO stuff is usually the highest rated segment. This has been known for years yet they keep pushing the idea people care about the older wrestlers when they don't.

Well they have started to push younger wrestlers to the top like Roode and Storm. TNA is in a weird transition period, as the product has improved after being terrible for years, and they seem to be trying to make new stars, but it's gonna take time and some getting used to for the viewers. The issue is the Bischoff family saga whichms to be chasing off viewers.

The Bischoff segment bombed out, but so did the opening segment with Roode. The first forty minutes of the show was all Roode. I'm not feeling the Roode-Sting feud and I don't think the viewers are either. They should start Impact off with a match for once(preferably a knockouts match) instead of a promo.

Overall another good Impact. It goes without saying that the Bischoffs are dragging down the entire company and they need to go away forever.

The Knockouts had the highest rated segment (again) with 1.23, In fact the KO's saved this edition from being the lowest rated Impact of the year.
I generally don't really like Battle Royals b/c they're hard to keep up with and when short tend to feel rushed, but I thought this one was pretty fun. It got everyone except Traci on TV and Madison's sly little maneuver to win was great even though it was blatantly advertised she was part of the match, but logic has never been the strong point in TNA. and breaking up tag teams is something I never like unless it serves a long term plan, making the individuals look stronger. I def agree there should be 2 KO matches per week considering how little TV time TNA has.

The X match was much too short but A Double was of course great in his parts and Ion is decent for a guy brought in too soon IMO. I used to be a big fan of Moore but the last 2 years he has lost a lot of what made him special. Not really a fan of Sorenson but feel horrible for him being seriously injured. hope he recovers soon and is well enough in the future to work again. the package was really well done.

Roode/Hardy was decent for a Hardy match, but they really need to phase him out & push guys like Kaz & Williams into that spot. Ray and Storm was good too considering Ray is another older guy who I feel needs to transition into more of a managerial roll as he's still great cutting promos.

Spike.com is calling this week's show "Enter the Giant". Was that that football player's nickname? At first I'd assumed that it was referring to Matt Morgan who didn't appear on-screen this week.

The bad: No AJ/Kaz/Daniels bromance triangle. The neverending Jackson James saga.

The good: Everything else.

Great show once again. James Storm's Superkick is really becoming the unstoppable force in TNA. Bully Ray has some pretty sweet calves. With two heel/heel matches set up for Victory Road so far (Ion/Aries and Rayne/Kim), I figured Bully was going to get another title shot as well.

The knockout battle royal brought back good memories of the Velvet/Sarita feud.

It was nice to see Chelsea back together with Flair. I miss Immortal's theme, so I was disappointed to hear Bischoff's theme when Chelsea/Flair/Bischoff/Gunner came out. It seems as if Scott Steiner has fallen into the Phantom Zone that sucked up Abyss and Anderson. Thank goodness that Kurt Angle has broken free of the Phantom Zone at least.

Roode finally snapping on Sting was long in coming. Glad to see it happen at last.

Wasn't the first hour of Impact going against American Idol? That would explain the first hour rating. I don't understand why TNA and Spike don't get together and move Impact up an hour, so they don't go up against Jersey Shore on a weekly basis.
