Caught a multi-media IMAX screening of this last night and goddamn is it a blast. I normally cannot stand Tom Cruise, but Jeremy Renner made it worth me taking a chance with this and I'm glad I did. It's the epitome of high-octane entertainment. Pixar's Brad Bird makes a terrific jump to live action direction and this is sure to revive the M:I series in quick fashion.

Definitely worth seeing on in IMAX. There are some amazing shots.

Terrific action movie. That scene on the Dubai Tower is already iconic.

I hated Mission: Impossible III so much that I had no intention of seeing Ghost Protocol, but man, am I glad I flip-flopped! I think Ghost Protocol (backofthehead.com) is the best Mission of all.

I loved the opening credits. They work like an overture at a musical, and they start with the lit fuse!

I feel like the script was reworked on the fly because it leaves me with a lot of questions as to how the bad guy was able to manipulate IMF and its materiel so easily.

And HOLY COW Lea Seydoux. Her black dress was my favorite special effect in the film.

As I may have said elsewhere, Ghost Protocol was so good that I rented M:I III thinking I had misjudged it based on the trailer. I had not, sadly.

I really liked that they focused on the espionage elements in this over the action elements so overly prevalent in III. I didn't really like the opening credits because I felt they gave away too much of the movie.

Finally, if all Pixar directors are as good at transitioning to live action as Brad Bird was*, my expectations of John Carter just went up immensely. Maybe coming from an animation background he's much more aware of the sound design or something because every time Ethan hit something after a jump I winced at the impact.

*I'm sure that's not the case, but am trying to be optimistic.

Agreed!

I was blown away. I don't know if it was the IMAX screen and sound, but i was squirming as if I was on a roller coaster. That, and the sandstorm part were worth the ticket price alone.

Who knew Ethan Hunt was a sketch artist as well?

I never saw M:I III because it came out during the whole "Tom Cruise is a crazy Scientologist gone nuts"-phase and I couldn't watch him in a movie during that time, but I wanted to see Ghost Protocol so I Netflix'd III and I actually really liked it.

I just got back from Ghost Protocol and naturally, I loved it. I still think the first one is the best of the bunch, but with Pegg and Renner I really dug this one. (I really thought Ving Rhames was going to be part of the crew when they went to India, though, so that he wasn't was kind of a bummer.)

Really enjoyed this movie. Never been a Tom Cruise fan except for his roles in Magnolia and Tropic Thunder. Hated M:I 1&2 (skipped 3 because of it).

The entire hotel double switch was really well done. Also the movie was very well grounded in reality for the most part.
