It's a rare show that can get me to root against Mad Men for Best Drama but Game of Thrones is it. Winter is Coming to the Emmys. (Though honestly, I don't think they'll win.) Peter Dinklage for Best Supporting Actor Drama has the best shot to bringing a statue home to the Iron Throne. (youtu.be)

Also, I disagree with both The Office and 30 Rock getting their usual Emmy nods. Both shows are well past their best days. Commmunity, uneven season as it was, was also brilliant when they were at their best. Community deserved the nod. But Parks and Rec gets my vote (I don't get a vote).

No Nick Offerman nomination for Parks and Rec is a crime, though. However, I really believe Steve Carell deserves his first Emmy. This is his best and probably last shot at being recognized, if he never returns to prime time television.

For reals. 4 from Modern Family? Seriously? That's p. terrible.

P&R better win Best Comedy Series, though.

Offerman ought to have been up in the female category and then given it to Amy.

YES.

Also Modern Family hogging the Best Supporting Actor category crowded out Danny Pudi and Donald Glover. The whole damn cast? Was Jon Cryer nominated for just surviving the off-camera drama?

John Noble was snubbed for Fringe again too...

I do not use Twitter so do whatcha gotta do.

While many of my favorites aren't honored by being nominated for a silly award, I love almost everything and everyone up for the comedy ones. This is truly a great time to be a fan of the television comedy.

As soon as that whole Sheen drama broke, I predicted it would lead to Cryer (who's very well-liked and respected in Hollywood) winning another Emmy as a "sorry you had to put up with him" nod.

I love the nominations for Goggins/Martindale/Olyphant, Louis CK, Andre Braugher and Dinklage. (I haven't seen Game Of Thrones yet but have no problem believing that Dinklage is amazing in it.)

The complete lack of response to Community still strikes me as odd.

Presumably Jon Hamm and Elisabeth Moss are using 'The Suitcase' as their submission episode and thus both will probably win, since that was the best acting on any show this year.

Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series nominees:

2010
Jon Cryer
Jesse Tyler Ferguson
Eric Stonestreet
Ty Burrell
Chris Colfer
Neil Patrick Harris

2011
Jon Cryer
Jesse Tyler Ferguson
Eric Stonestreet
Ty Burrell
Chris Colfer
Ed O'Neill

Ridiculous. Ed should've been nominated last year. I'm not saying someone like Eric Stonestreet isn't worthy, but people here rattled off enough just-as-worthy names. Throw in Joel Kinnaman from The Killing and you have a whole new list of nominees.

I think Boardwalk Empire is gonna clean up.

Cherry-picking some other interesting categories:

Outstanding Animated Program
The Cleveland Show: "Murray Christmas"
Futurama: "The Late Philip J. Fry"
Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode III
The Simpsons: "Angry Dad - The Movie"
South Park: "Crack Baby Athletic Association"

-AWESOM-O!

Outstanding Casting For A Drama Series
Boardwalk Empire
Game Of Thrones
The Good Wife
The Killing
Mad Men

-Toughest award to pick.

Outstanding Main Title Design
Any Human Heart (Masterpiece)
Boardwalk Empire
Game Of Thrones
Rubicon
Too Big To Fail

-RUBICON!

Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music
Any Human Heart (Masterpiece)
The Borgias
Camelot
Episodes
The Kennedys
Mildred Pierce

-This one clearly has to go to Game of Thr...wait, what?

Yes, nominating someone from The Killing for a comedy series nomination would be a very new list. :)

You mean it's not a comedy?

Dear lord. Seems like I'm taking JK's lack of nomination pretty hard.

Uh oh, the Dan Harmon needless self-loathing starts anew.

What, no nomination for Modern Family Luke, he's such a rascal.

I thought the BUZZ was that Carell and Parks & Rec winning were fait accompli? Unless Tony Shalhoub shows up at the last second.

    BEST COMEDY SERIES
    Glee

I also thought this was the year all them people realized Glee was an empty house of cards (the cards in a jukebox with the songs' names on them that you flip through) and they'd made a huge mistake.

I'm glad to see the two prominent women in The Killing get nominated, and I'm not surprised the assisting detective missed out. People don't know him enough to recognize what a distinct character he's created. Google him. He's unrecognizable in this role.

Forbes was wrenching every week she appeared. She did heavy lifting.

This is NOT the season for which Hugh Laurie should win. But I wouldn't mind seeing him finally get an Emmy for House. Maybe for this year's final season.

NO DONALD GLOVER, NO PEACE

Eh, actually, I don't really care. I love Modern Family, but this just underscores the need to have an ensemble award like the SAGs.
