http://www.prowrestlingscoops.com/tna/tna-news/april-hunter-reveals-why-she-turned-down-tna/

April Hunter, who has competed on the independent wrestling scene for numerous years, was offered a contract by TNA Wrestling in 2009. She explained why she declined their contract offer in a recent interview with f4wonline.

“First off, I do like the people there and enjoy the locker room and backstage. It’s a fun company. But there were a few issues,” she said.

“The money wasn’t more than I’m offered on the indies. However, the main issue was they asked me to sign a waiver clearing them of any future medical issues, and that I had to get cleared by my own doctor first. I knew of two other girls fighting with them to get their medical bills paid at that point and I wasn’t comfortable with the idea after all the injuries I’ve already been through. I know how easy it is to get hurt and I also know they like to suggest certain high risk moves at times. That is what royally screwed up a match I had with Desire years ago. TNA management put the match together using moves that neither one of us were comfortable or familiar with. So, I said no.

“I’d never rule them out if they change their policies, but for now, I don’t think it’s for me.”

I assume the other girl was Daffney?

Just more evidence of how bush league this company is. I wonder if ROH would do any worse if they were given TNA's Spike time slot.

Considering some of the websites I have seen April at, I am a little shocked, but not that shocked. Then again, I had a rumor about gay wrestling videos on a certain TE contestant and I am just going to leave it at that for now. It is very disconcerting that TNA would do that would have kinda of policy. I doubt ROH would do better, but who knows.

What might this have to do with not wanting to do high risk moves in a TNA ring for no reward and no medical coverage?

More to do the fact that TNA is one of the two wrestling shows on cable TV and would/should give her more money if she joined them. Instead she is doin pseudo softcore porn.

You're talking about someone who was brought into wrestling by WCW because she was doing porn. She's the only one of the NWO Girls who is still involved with wrestling at all.

Anyone in their right mind would choose porn over TNA. It pays better, it's safer and it's more tasteful.

This talks about Daffney's problems. I'm not surprised April told them to bugger off.

Other girl could have been Angelina, she was having concussions. I think Kong was having back issues as well, but that might have been in 2008.

Well, one could argue that had she joined TNA, she'd be getting televised publicity (and possibly even a push) for her porn. Remember when TNA constantly hyped Traci Brooks for doing porn?

Now that I think about it, I'm really surprised that Vince Russo has never written a wrestling porno himself. I'm guessing that he's tried but none of the wrestling companies would get behind it and none of the porn companies would accept his shitty writing and nonsensical plots.

I disagree. If they were paying her more money or she got more money due to being on TNA like a sponsorship deal, I think she would sign regardless of the risks. TNA could say the money you get would go to the medical costs. To me, it shows how little TNA's value is worth for wrestlers.

Doesn't ROH have medical cover for all its guys?

I honestly don't understand what you're getting it. The porno people would give her more money if she were with TNA, is that what you're saying?

I mean if TNA had a sponsorship like with Pepsi or Snickers or some type of big company. Like the THQ and Gillette deals WWE has where their wrestlers on TV. That is extra income that you wouldn't get if you did porn.

I don't think that anyone will argue that, if TNA was more successful and capable of making money, that the wrestlers would stand a better chance of making more.

But they're not, and probably will never be.

They have deals with Jakks Pacific for their figures, wife picked up AJ last night. They also have other sponsors of the TV show, so they could have that type of sponsorship and did have AJ and Kurt in the commerical when they were selling the PS2 game.

Since this is the latest TNA thread I'm posting this here (lifted from lordsofpain.net)SPOILER Alert: The following article contains a spoiler for next week’s iMPACT!: { Then use SPOILER tags, dummy! - Ed. }

At Tuesday’s TNA iMPACT! tapings from Orlando (set to air next Thursday, (5/12), Mick Foley was revealed to be the person from “the network” that has been keeping Hulk Hogan in line.

Foley came out and interrupted a promo by Immortal, informing them that TNA iMPACT! will now be known as “Impact Wrestling” – and the show will be “all about wrestling” – a clear jab at WWE, which has been distancing itself from everything “wrestling” in recent months. Later in the show, they actually re-shot the entire segment, with Mick Foley saying that the show is no longer “TNA” – but “Impact Wrestling”.

This led to some confusion as to whether it was the company name that was changing – or just the name of the television show.

In response to the confusion – Hulk Hogan tweeted the following on Wednesday, which appeared to indicate that the “TNA” name is no more:

    “No TNA. only IMPACT. HH”

On Friday, TNA star Jeff Jarrett responded to fans asking him about whether it was TNA's company name that was changing to "Impact Wrestling" - or just the iMPACT! television show. Jarrett responded:

    "Impact...it's now Impact Wrestling."

Based on what we've been hearing in recent weeks, there has been serious talk of rebranding the entire company "Impact Wrestling" and phasing out the "TNA" letters in the coming months. However at this point, after a week of conflicting and confusing information, it apears just the television show is being renamed.

We have discussed a lot about TNA here, especially the name. This might be a move in the right direction but at this point I personally really doubt much will change in the way management does business there. I don't even tape Impact anymore, I just wait for stuff to come up online to check out anything I'm mildly interested in. I also think ROH is a far superior in-ring product but do have doubts if they would do any better ratings wise as ONLY wrestling fans will watch it and not the general TV audience so much. Much like NWA Hollywood, the TV product didn't really project the the otherwise great promotion in the best light

Also, ROH doesn't have the roster it used to. I see very few guys that I could picture being as big as Punk in WWE or even Joe in TNA.

Regarding Impact Pro Wrestling. What's in a name? If they don't drastically change the way they run things, it won't matter.

This will, however, stop the eye rolling unleashed by The Lovely Mrs. Tracker whenever the name of the company is mentioned. It's a smart move.
