Another fine, funny roast, this time for Donald J. Trump. Comedy Central Roasts are one of my favorite nights of the year.

Probably the biggest surprise was how funny and what a great sport Marlee Matlin is, and her set was really good, spoken through her interpreter. Plus a surprise appearance by Gilbert Gottfried; Comedy Central Roasts are the only place Gilbert can arrive and be received like a Messiah.

Not a surprise but perversely entertaining in its own way was the absolute BOMBING of The Situation as a comedy act. That was something to behold. Jeffrey Ross even tried to save him.

Larry King was really funny, Seth MacFarlane is a phenomenal host, Snoop Dogg was terrific, and the usual suspects like Lisa Lampanelli and Whitney Cummings were reliable for their jokes and for being made fun of for being whores.

I still think Vince McMahon should have appeared and roasted Trump. Who better to? He would have demolished The Situation as a comedy act, and McMahon's presence would have shot up gay and steroid jokes 100%. Snoop's presence enabled Larry King to score with a killer black joke, regarding Snoop only being 71% black: "By my count, if you're 71% black, then you're 29% Not Guilty." Larry King, everyone!

Great job by almost everyone, including Trump, and not including The Situation. I thought overall, last summer's David Hasselhoff Roast was probably the best ever Comedy Central Roast, but Trump's was a lot of mean-spirited but also well-meaning fun.

Also nice shout outs to the late, dearly missed Greg Giraldo. Roast in Peace, Greg.

Sitch: It's my first night of doing comedy......
Ross: It's also your LAST night!

Total trainwreck segment. There were so many moments of dead silence and even some scattered boos. Not a good night to be the guy with the abs.

The timing of the roast airing is pretty interesting. Considering everything that's happened in the last week, this can be seen as the start of the Gilbert Gottfried PR Image Repair tour.

The clips I've heard of Situation suggest the audience is almost dumbstruck by how bad he is. There's a pause after each joke as people wait for the punchline and then realize that they heard it.

If I'm the WWE, I start to second guess Snooki at WM. The double whammy of Jeff Hardy and Situation is a karmic warning to think twice before she gets in the ring at their highest-profile PPV.

Along this same train of thought, I think The Situation's epic bomb is showing that The Jersey Shore's 15 minutes are just about up.

After I saw that, I told my friend the clock is on 14:30 of the 15:00 of fame The Situation has. It was painful to watch. But it could not have happened to a better person.

I enjoyed the roast as well. Larry King was the person I thought had to have the thickest skin of all, because he got ribbed something fierce. I could not even believe how badly The Situation did with his set. It was a fascinating sight to behold. I didn't know who that one white guy was, gezzleneck or something. He was really funny though.

They are having a special show for Greg Giraldo this coming weekend, showing his roast work, and I will DVR that for sure.

It may not be the Friars Club, but I get the feeling being a Roastmaster is something Seth MacFarlane has always dreamed of doing.

Conan had The Situation on the program a week or two ago, and the following night he put the first minute or so of the interview on replay, and counted the number of times The Situation looked at himself in the monitor.

Hilarity ensued.

Isn't it almost a roast tradition in itself for someone to just completely bomb to the point that their horrible act becomes a running gag for the rest of the show? I remember one roast (maybe for Shaq) where one comic was telling brutal jokes and Jamie Foxx just started whispering into the mic as the comic's "conscience" and talking about how his career was over. Just fantastic. Or when Darryl Johnston gave a very vanilla speech during the Emmitt Smith roast, followed by Jeff Ross coming up and saying "Sorry, but Moose Johnston stole all my jokes."

Both happened at the Emmitt Smith roast. Here is the Jamie Foxx bit:

I don't understand what Jeff Hardy has to do with Snooki & WM..

Situation is not a comedian, he isn't funny on jersey shore either. So why he'd be there, I have no clue.
You'd think someone would've checked his routine before he went out there. Like I assume WWE will actually practice and rehearse with Snooki before she does her (few seconds) of wrestling.

Can anybody summarize which of The Situation's jokes actually made it to air? Because from what I read, Comedy Central cut a LOT of what his jokes because they were too controversial.

He told a "joke" about how Trump owns a lot of property and Snoop's people used to be property that was cut for sure.

Just watched this, was pretty good except for old Sitch. Best part of Situation's set was the reaction shots from Ice T:

Snoop and Marlee Matlin brought it. I was shocked that they were so funny (and funnier in Snoops case).

Speaking of Matlin, WOW! She is getting hotter as she is getting older.

I hope the Situation's cut jokes are added back into the DVD release because if he bombed that badly; the audiene reaction will probably be just as entertaining as the "good" jokes.

A lack of clear thinking lead to Jeff performing on a PPV main event despite his condition. Snooki has been booked in a match - not as a valet or cheerleader -- but a in-ring performer. I think, again, the one-two punch of an ill-prepared wrestler and a Jersey Shore celeb performing out of his element should give the WWE second thoughts about making Snooki a WM wrestler.
