New York Mets to remove Jerry Manuel, GM Omar Minaya, sources say
NEW YORK -- General manager Omar Minaya's and manager Jerry Manuel's tenures with the New York Mets in their current positions likely will be over after this weekend, sources told ESPNNewYork.com.
Multiple team officials said no announcement is planned until after the regular season's completion Sunday.
You can only play the "injuries" card so many times before it stops becoming an excuse. I never thought Manuel was a good idea in the first place, so I'm not surprised he got the axe. And considering that Minaya was a central figure in the Willie Randolph fiasco, the Mets' collapses in the next two years, and the baffling Jason Bay contract, I'm really surprised that he survived this long.
Having said that, isn't it time to completely clean house on the Mets' medical staff? Something HAS to be wrong there if they're constantly riddled with injuries. | Promote this thread! |             | supersalvadoran

Poor Wright and Reyes have seen part of their prime pissed away.
