Entering play tonight, 9/20, with two weeks left...

AL EAST

NYY (90-59)
TB (89-59, ½ GB)

If you include ties, the AL East lead changed hands between these two 11 times since the break. NYY seems vulnerable down the stretch, and I have a feeling that with 6 left to play against Boston, the Red Sox will spoil things a bit.

Remaining schedules

NYY: TB, BOS, @TOR, @BOS
TB: @NYY, SEA, BAL, @KC

AL CENTRAL

MIN (89-60, magic #: 4)

Twins. Where the hell did that record come from?

AL WEST

TEX (83-65, magic #: 6)

Nothing to see here.

FINAL AL PLAYOFF PREDICTIONS
1. MIN
2. TB
3. TEX
4. NYY (WC)

=======================================

NL EAST

PHI (89-61)
ATL (86-64, 3 GB)

The Braves have faltered, and the Phillies seem to be ending the season the same way they started it (hot with lots of offense). But there are 6 left to play between these two, and there’s more than enough time to see the Phils just vanish the way they have many times this season. It’s hard to pick against the Braves, especially since they close the season at home, but I will. :-)

Remaining schedules

PHI: ATL, NYM, @WAS, @ATL
ATL: @PHI, @WAS, FLA, PHI

NL CENTRAL

CIN (84-66, magic #: 7)

Can’t see any reason why the Reds won’t hold on here.

NL WEST

SF (84-66)
SD (83-66, ½ GB)
COL (82-67 1.5 GB)

The Rockies are doing what they always do this time of year, but this time I think they’ll come up short. The bats are there, but the SP is not. The Padres are the exact opposite. The Giants are a better total package.

Remaining schedules
SF: @CHC, @COL, ARI, SD
SD: @LAD, CIN, CHC, @SF
COL: @ARI, SF, LAD, @STL

FINAL NL PLAYOFF PREDICTIONS
1. PHI
2. SF
3. CIN
4. ATL (WC)

I'll agree with your predictions. It just seems odd that we might end up with the Rangers, Giants and Reds in the playoffs this season. Wonderfully odd.

Yup, now if my Nats can get into a pennant race in the next few years, I'll be tickled pink.

Your "Natinals" killed my team, along with the Marlins. Both teams can have nothing but ill will, as far as I am concerned.

Somehow, the Padres will find a way to shake off the slump. The rest seem straight forward though.

Right now, it doesn't seem that my favorite baseball team (the Braves) will even make the wild card spot unless they turn the next couple weeks around or otherwise, they will turn into this year's Mets where they play good for most of the season but falter for the most important weeks of baseball.

Don't get me wrong, I want the Braves to win but other teams are picking up more momentum right now whereas the Braves are not playing like a team that has held the lead in the NL East for the better part of the season.

The season ends on Sunday and SF and SD are playing each other the final weekend. They have a good chance of making it in Cox's last season

The Braves after last night have won 4 out of their last 5 which gives them some momentum. But our last series is against Philly. We will need to win at least 2 of the games and some bad luck from SD these last few games.

Current playoff seedings going into the final three games...

AL

1. TB (94-65)
2. MIN (93-66)
3. TEX (89-70)
4. NYY (WC) (94-65)

What we know...

-MIN will host the Wild Card winner
-TEX will visit the AL East winner
-There will be no tiebreaker games

What we don’t know...

-Who wins the East: If NYY and TB are tied after Sunday, TB takes the East and NYY gets the WC, due to head-to-head record.

-Who gets homefield advantage: MIN gets homefield only if they have the outright best record. MIN would lose ties with both NYY and TB, due to head-to-head records.

NL

1. PHI (95-64)
2. SF (91-68)
3. CIN (89-70)
4. ATL (WC) (90-69)

SD (88-71)

What we know...

-PHI gets homefield advantage throughout the entire playoffs.

What we don’t know...

-Who wins the West and WC:

-SD’s only chance at the West is to sweep SF this weekend (which will tie the two). But even then...

a) If ATL finishes with a worse record, SD would win the West due to head-to-head record against SF. SF gets the WC.
b) If ATL finishes with a better record, then ATL gets the WC. SD would host SF in a one-game playoff for the West.
c) If ATL ties both SF and SD, then SD hosts SF to decide the West. The loser then visits ATL to decide the WC.

-If SF wins the West outright, and SD ties ATL for the WC, then ATL hosts a one-game playoff.

San Diego still has a chance.

Tampa just needs a win.

And it's all over for an epic gag job in San Diego. Giants in, Braves in, Padres out.

Logically, going from up at least 10 games in the division to completely out of the playoffs SHOULD have someone calling for Bud Black's job. But when you consider that before the season started, everyone was picking San Diego to finish near the bottom of the division and thought Adrian Gonzalez would finish the season with the Red Sox, I think Black did a hell of a job this year. He should get some of the blame, but I don't think he should be fired or anything.
