Thornton's good, but he's also one of the most selfish players in the league. He WILL give the Wizards headaches.
With all the dead weight, basket cases (goodbye, Sebastian Telfair!), and cap space the Clips are clearing off, you'd almost think they were...gulp...about to actually get SERIOUS about making a run for LeBron! Or, at the very least, for Dwayne Wade. Of course, they went this route with Kobe in 2004 and that only led to an $80 million contract for Cuttino Mobley. Can't say I like where this is going, but I applaud them for trying.
Amare Stoudemire may not have necessarily guaranteed a Cavs title, but he'd have gone a long way towards LeBron resigning with Cleveland. Jamison isn't half the player Stoudemire is, so I imagine it's all or nothing for Cleveland this year.

It could make him feel less guilty when he leaves, because the Cavs will still be competitive. If the T-Mac trade goes down without the Knicks giving up their whole future they will have tons of space this summer. It doesn't guarantee a thing, but neither does Jamison to the Cavs.
The Wizards should be ashamed. Terrible deal. Now this team has tons of cap space to offer players if they can convince them to play along side of Agent Zero. I would like to think that they could have done better in these two deals, but I guess that's not what trading in the NBA is about anymore.

For the 'He's leaving' crowd, I want to know exactly what would entice him at this point to leave. I'm not going to be shocked if he does since weirder things have happened, but what does another team have to offer that he won't have in Cleveland?
Money: Cavs can sign him for the most money. As far as marketing goes, it's not like people don't know who he is. The Cavs have partial ownership (or soon will anyway) from Chinese investors, so there's a huge market for him as well.
Team: They've done everything he's asked as far as assembling a team around him to win. Who else that can get him will be able to have the kind of supporting cast that he'll have in Cleveland?
The Cavs will definitely be over the cap next year, so this is it for the team. Even if Z and Shaq weren't re-signed, they'd still only have a mid-level exception (or something in that neighborhood), so no superstars will be added via free agency.
As far as Amar'e goes, there's no guarantee he would have re-signed with the Cavs, either. If anything, this deal lends some stability to the Cavs in knowing what they have for next year.
