Not necessarily something you were there live to see in person, but that you watched on TV, etc, ...

I've got two:

Ronde Barber's 96-yard interception return against the Eagles in the NFC championship game in January 2003. The pick and score ended the Eagles' comeback hopes and sent the Bucs to the Super Bowl. I got tears in my eyes when it happened and get goosebumps now thinking about it. The house I was in, full of Bucs fans, went absolutely insane. It accomplished so much for the Bucs: They beat the Eagles, who had knocked them out of the playoffs each of the previous two seasons. They won in very cold weather. They won a road playoff game. And they reached the Super Bowl. It was a great moment.

And South Florida's win over No 17 Auburn in 2007. Biggest win in the school's history so far. I remember volunteering to stay late at work that night because I was watching it on TV and didn't want to miss the end while driving home. I yelled really loud at multiple times in that game, much to the chagrin of some people still around trying to do some work. It was an emotional game, with USF's defense forcing five turnovers, but the Bulls' kicker missing four field goals. It came down to him having to make a 19-yarder at the end to force overtime, and it was a big question of if he was up for it. USF had to go for it on fourth down in overtime because the coaches didn't trust him to make the tying field goal.

1) Dave Ridgway's FG to win the 1989 Grey Cup.

2) Ryan Grant's two fumbles at the start of the 2008 divisional against the Seahawks. (I got better...)

3) Joe Carter hitting the Game 6 home run against the Phillies in 1993.

4) Todd Stottlemyre cutting his chin in the redonkulous 15-14 game against the Phillies, trying for third from first. He was the starting pitcher. Crazy game.

Oh yeah, I remember that. That was in the recreation of the 1993 World Series, part of the 10th anniversary celebration, right? ;)

A couple Cubs-related:

1. When Burt Hooton pitched a no hitter on my birthday in
1972 (I was 7). It was so cool at the time.

2. When the Cubs actually won a post season series against
the Braves in 2003. I actually broke down in tears
thinking about my Dad (he had passed away 3 years
earlier) and all the games we watched together.

Of course, this was followed by torment a short week later.

In the non-Cubs category, I remember my Dad letting me stay up to watch Hank Aaron hit his 714th homer. That was pretty cool.

Ryan Braun's game winning HR on the final day of the season last year to put the Brewers in the playoffs, and the subsequent on-field celebration that followed. As a lifelong Brewer fan who was less than a year old the last time the team was in the playoffs, it was by far the greatest moment I've experienced.

Also, game three of the NLDS. Even though they lost the series 3-1, I was able to attend and witness their only playoff win in the last 26 years.

Michael Jordan's last playoff shot; he made Byron Russell look like a fool. He dribbles fakes out Russell sets up for the mid-jumper and it's good with 5 seconds to go for the Jazz. And prior to that, Jordan stole the ball from Karl Malone. The Bulls win in 6 games, Michael Jordan not only wins his 6 ring and playoff MVP but also solidified himself as the best overall clutch basketball player in NBA history.

The Blue Jays winning both of their World Series. Joe Carter was THE MAN at the time.

Seeing Wayne Gretzky get into a hockey fight, only to get knocked down with one punch. Sorry, Wayne! I couldn't stop laughing after seeing that.

1983-Jan-30 The Skins win their third championship and first Superbowl.

1988-Jan-31 Doug Williams is crazy-go-nuts and spanks the Broncos for the Skins fourth championship and second Superbowl.

1992-Jan-26 The Skins beat the Bills in their second of four straight Superbowl appearances for their fifth championship and third, and so far final, Superbowl.

1994-Nov-27 The Baltimore CFLers become the first American team in the Grey Cup and almost win it.

1995-Nov-19 The now Baltimore Stallions become the second, and final, American team in the Grey Cup and the first, and only, to win it. I am still a fan of the team, now known as the latest version of The Montreal Alouettes.

1997-Jan-14 Robert Irsay, owner of Indy, dies.

2001-Jan-28 The Baltimore Ravens added another Vince Lombardi trophy to sit next to the one from Superbowl V. And to save the debate, the original trophy is on display at the Sports Legends Museum at Camden Yards in Baltimore. Indy had to order a copy as they never had possession after the complicated trade of ownership between the Colts and Rams. Furthermore, they relinquished it as part of their cut-and-run with the Mayflower truck when the Maryland government threatened emanate domain on the team to prevent their move.

http://www.baberuthmuseum.com/pagebank/index.html?id=177

2003-May-1 The Baltimore Orioles in the first game of a double-header, beat the Detroit Tigers for the first of their two wins that day. What was amazing was that B.J. Ryan for the O's won the game with out even throwing a pitch.

From: http://www.baseballlibrary.com/chronology/thisday.php?month=5&day=1

The Orioles sweep a doubleheader from the Tigers‚ winning by scores of 5-2 and 6-4‚ to drop Detroit's record to 3-23. In the 1st game‚ BJ Ryan earns the win in relief without throwing a single pitch. After relieving Pat Hentgen with two outs in the 7th‚ he picks Omar Infante off first base to end the inning. The Orioles go on to score 3 runs in the bottom half of the inning to make him the pitcher of record on the winning side. He is relieved by Buddy Groom for the 8th and Jorge Julio in the 9th.

It begins and ends for me with the Kirk Gibson home run in the World Series.

The Redskins, each time when they won the Super Bowl, especially when they crushed the Denver Broncos (a team I hate because of my Raiders leanings).

Terrell Buckly intercepting the first pass of the game against Michigan in the early 90's. I wish I could find video of it, it's still so vivid in my mind. It was billed as the biggest matchup of the year and they had the camera toward the sideline on an out pass. T-Buck came out of nowhere, grabbed the pass and headed to the endzone.

Royals winning the World Series. Was such a Brett fan.

The Choke at Doak. Gater fans still can't deal with it.

Jordan. Any night he played in his prime. Seriously, I was never a huge NBA fan, but I would watch Bulls games anyway because it seemed like every single night he would do something to have everyone talking the next day. It was unreal. I can't even pick a favorite.

Marvin Jones interview from the early 90's. Yeah, FSU again. I don't recall it exactly but he was asked about making the perfect hit. His response was that it would be perfect when the helicopter had to come onto the field to take the other guy away. It was the attitude that fueled all those winning seasons and has been missing in this decade.

Here is a page with a downloadable highlights video from that game. Assuming the link works (I didn't download it), I'd imagine that play would be included.

The Mets making the incredible comeback in Game 6 of the 1986 Series.

Northwestern basketball knocking off Bobby Knight's national champion Indiana team. I went so muts in the stands that my Dad says I was all over ESPN.

The Rangers winning the Cup in 1994. In particular, Game 4, when Mike Richter made the fantastic save on Pavel Bure's penalty shot. The game was in Vancouver, but they opened the Garden so fans could watch it in the arena, and that was about as much fun as I've ever had, just a total party. Also my hyperventilating when they actually won.

My last visit to Shea, which was also the last playoff game the Mets won there, in game 6 of the 2006 NLCS. Of course, that would be a better memory if they'd won game 7...

All Yankees stuff for me:

- Reggie Jackson's 3rd homer in Game 6, '77 WS against Charlie Hough
- Leyritz's HR off Tim Belcher in the 15th in Game 2 of the ALDS in '95
- His other HR off Mark Wohlers in the '96 WS
- David Cone's and David Wells' perfect games in '99
- Jim Abbott's no-hitter in '93

The 11 days in October of '04 when the Red Sox went from the abyss to greatness.
Notre Dame knocking off Miami in '88 to avenge 58-7.
Providence knocking off Georgetown on a buzzer beater in '87 in the building to show the dream season was starting, then Providence knocking off Georgetown in the Regional Finals to go to the Final Four.

The endless blur that was Oct. 4-28, 2005. From ALDS game 3 with El Duque getting out of the bases loaded jam against the Red Sox, to the dropped third strike in Game 2 of the ALCS against the Angels to the four straight complete games in the ALCS to walking into USCF for a World Series game to the grand slam by Paul Konerko and the walk-off by Podsednik in game 2 of the Series against the Astros to the endless game 3 to the nailbiter of game 4 to standing with a couple million people celebrating the return of the World Series title to Chicago on the 28th. A long sentence for a very long month. I was lucky enough to be at all 6 home games the Sox played that month, and nothing will ever top those few weeks.

As an Astro fan, this would rank as one of my worst sports memories. I'm still bitter about that one.

As far as best, probably the 1995 playoff run for the Rockets--the comeback against the Suns, Hakeem torching (alleged) MVP Robinson, and the Nick Anderson choke. Amazing run.
