Since it's finally spring, do you have any major projects in or around the house that you're finally ready to tackle?

For me, I just became a homeowner, and lucked out that the house was in move-in condition. I definitely need replacement windows (and that $1500 from the government for energy efficiency on next year's income tax return! ), but I'm debating on updating either the kitchen or bathroom this summer, too. The kitchen has tile on the walls that needs to go, new fixtures and new appliances. The main problem is, the cabinets were built for a small stove, and I'm looking to get something more suitable for cooking and baking frequently, which means taking out a whole cabinet. The bathroom just needs to be modernized - double-sink vanity, removing the tile laminate-looking wall overlay, new shower and sink fixtures, etc.

All of the bathrooms in our house need updating but we are still recovering from the kitchen project so they will just have to wait for their turn. I am also in the 3rd summer of trying to get the landscaping under control - the people before us let it go for 15 years and it got wild. Can't afford to pay someone to do it and there is a sense of accomplishment as I tame each section.

My wife and I just bought a condo in Cambridge, MA. It was renovated in the 80s, and probably hasn't changed much since then, so we are getting a lot of work done before we move in. We're completely gutting the kitchen and bathroom and redoing everything. We're putting up molding around all the doors and windows (there's none now and it's really weird looking), painting all the walls, and replacing all the closet doors. Also, there are only 3 overhead lights in the whole place, so we are getting some more wired in.

Pretty much the same as every year: try to get my parents to dispose of as much clutter as possible. (We're talking Very Special Episode of Clean House levels here.) Now that it's warm enough to do things outside, that could help matters.

Once financial issues clear up, though, said parents are planning on fixing a hole in the roof which has resulted in a moldy closet and floor, among other projects. Maybe if I can find a working lighted medicine cabinet that fits where our non-working lighted cabinet resides, I'll get that and see if they can install it.
