Reposted on: 20.2.16 1004.47 | Let's start with the New York Knicks, who in two separate deals acquired Larry Hughes from the Chicago Bulls for Tim Thomas, Jerome James and Anthony Roberson, and who also traded Malik Rose to the Oklahoma City Thunder for Chris Wilcox. (Wilcox got traded after all, it seems).
On Wednesday, the Bulls traded Andres Nocioni, Drew Gooden, Cedric Simmons and Michael Ruffin to the Sacramento Kings, and got Brad Miller and John Salmons in return. It'll be Miller's second stint in a Bulls uniform.
The Thunder, meanwhile, were apparently so desperate to acquire guard Thabo Sefolosha from the Bulls (who has a career average of 5 PPG) that they traded away their 2009 first-round draft pick to get him. The Thunder are the Pittsburgh Pirates of the NBA. Hear that sound? It's the sound of every Thunder fan slamming their heads into a wall at the same time.
The Kings acquired Rashad McCants and Calvin Booth to the Sacramento Kings for forward Shelden Williams and guard Bobby Brown.
The very same day that Orlando Magic All-Star point guard Jameer Nelson had season-ending shoulder surgery performed, the Magic acquired point guard Rafer Alston from Houston to take his place in the lineup. In the three-team deal, the Rockets acquired Kyle Lowry from Memphis and Brian Cook from Orlando, while the Grizzlies got Adonal Foyle, Mike Wilks and the Magic's first-round draft pick. (And by the way, the Rockets' Tracy McGrady will miss the rest of the season due to injury).
So... which of these trades will we be talking about years from now, and which trades are just re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic? I'm betting the Thunder are gonna seriously regret giving up their round one draft pick. | Promote this thread! |             | thecubsfan

The Thunder also have the Spurs and the Nuggets first round picks. The Bulls will get the lesser one of those (with some protections), something probably in the upper 20s. | CRZ

There were some really happy people when the news came out that the Wolves had dumped McCants. Probably more of them in Minnesota than in Sactown. I'm going to miss Bobby Brown (and Williams....maybe a little bit) but this was a cash move and McCants probably IS the most talented man out of these four.
Kim astutely pointed out to me that with B52 gone, we are down to one Kings bobblehead who is actually still a king: Bobby Jackson (who was gone but came back).
More Kings stuff I haven't been paying attention to:
Mikki Moore was waived shortly after the Chicago deal.
Quincy Douby was also waived. (!)
The Kings got Will Solomon from the Raptors and some cash from the Celtics in their three team deal. Sacramento sent a conditional second round pick in 2014 to Boston.
The Kings ALSO got Sam Cassell from the Celtics in exchange for a conditional second-round draft pick in 2015. Don't worry; he was also waived.
Somehow, we still have Kenny Thomas. (Not that I would think teams were champing at the bit to trade for him, mind you...)
I have to think these "conditional draft picks" will mysteriously revert back to the Kings before those drafts come up, unless somebody notices all these cap shenanigans they're taking part in on behalf of other (real?) teams.

I THINK you are now totally up to speed on the worst team in the Association.

All these deals look like ways to shed payroll, but obviously the easier way to make more money off the team is to get a sweet deal for a new arena and Sacramento probably has better ways to spend their money.
