God, the Clippers jokes just write themselves sometimes. Hall-of-Famer Elgin Baylor, who had a Hall-of-Fame playing career with the Los Angeles Lakers and was the general manager of the Los Angeles Clippers from 1986-2008, is suing the latter organization (as well as owner David Sterling and the NBA itself) for what he claims was his unceremonious release from the organization due to his age and race-- and claims he was "grossly underpaid" during his tenure when compared to other GMs, never making more than $350,000 a year.

Let's get the easy stuff out of the way first: I'm pretty sure Donald Sterling knew Baylor was black when he hired him, back when I was freakin' four years old, continuing until I was 26.

Also, forgive me for having little sympathy for someone who's made $350,000 a year for running a basketball team (and poorly, at that).

Finally, while Baylor is 74 years old, I think his dismissal would probably have to do more with "complete and utter failure to achieve the goals set for him" than anything due to his age.

Not that I want to be construed as, in any way, favoring with that notoriously cheap bastard Donald Sterling. But seriously, dude, three playoff appearances in 22 years. And you were able to keep your job for that long. I think Sterling showed near-infinite patience with him, don't you?

An incompetent idiot playing the race and age card? No way!

Maybe Matt Millen can sue the Lions for firing him because he is white.

It's hard to know when you are done. As I age (52) I don't do some things as well and know that my skills will likely continue to erode and I will fight it. It isn't your age but how you perform. It's kind of sad for him to be who he is and not know when to exit gracefully.
