The seven-time All-Star and two-time Defensive Player of the Year leaves with career averages of 17.1 points and 8.5 rebounds per game, and is 10th on the all-time list for blocked shots.
Mourning suffered an excruciating tear of his quadriceps muscle and patella tendon in his right leg on December 19, 2007, the fourth anniversary of the famous kidney transplant that saved his life.
He was one of the best centers of the '90s and '00s, in my opinion, and he'll certainly be missed. Pat Riley pretty much guaranteed that his #33 jersey will be raised to the rafters in Miami, joining the #23 jersey that they retired for Michael Jordan and the #13 raised for Dan Marino. (No, I'm not making either of those up.) Promote this thread! | | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
