Oh, yeah.

The Houston Rockets have traded point guard Steve Francis, who's spent the better part of the last 2 1/3 seasons on the injured list, to the very team that drafted him second overall in 1999--

The Memphis (then Vancouver) Grizzlies.

HAHAHAHAHA!

Francis was the Rockets' leading scorer in his rookie year of 1999-2000, as well as '00-01 and '02-03.

He was also the leading scorer for the Orlando Magic in 2004-05.

His production (and number of games played) have steadily declined since then, however; as he averaged 14.4 PPG in 70 games in '05-06 with the Magic and Knicks, 11.3 PPG in 44 games in New York in '07, and last year only 5.5 PPG in 10 games with the Rockets. He has not played this season.

It's pretty funny, but from the sounds of it, the Grizz cared more about the draft pick they got from the Rockets than Francis, who is a free-agent at the end of the season and I guess is looking to prove he can still play and perhaps get a contract from some team for next season.

As a Grizz fan, I'll never forget Francis putting his head in his hands upon hearing the Grizzlies drafted him. But that was a long time ago, and I'm sure he's more mature now and I'm hoping he can help out in some capacity.

This move opens up a roster spot for Mutombo and probably allows Houston to sign him without having it cause luxury tax problems. I'd say Memphis should use Francis in a package with Conley to Portland, but he already is on the cap with Portland for close to $20 million from when they bought him out, so I doubt the ywant to pay him twice, and even more than that because of the luxury tax.
whatever

That would be so awesome if only to see Conley and Oden together again.
