Miami Heat star Dwayne Wade, the leading scorer in the NBA this season, donated a house, complete with furnishings, clothing and Christmas gifts, to a South Florida family displaced by a fire a few weeks ago.

Now there is a class act if ever there was one. That's the kind of thing sports stars and celebrities should be doing with their money.

Pretty damn awesome of him to do this, but I wouldn't go as far as saying anybody SHOULD be giving their money away to anybody. Sure, maybe don't buy $10 mil in chains and watches every year, but I'm not gonna EXPECT anybody to be donating houses either. That's not what charity is about.

Good point, that. I misspoke-- that's the kind of thing I'd like to see people do more often; of course it shouldn't be mandatory.

Definitely nice of Wade to help out the family. But he's not the first one I have heard that has done this. I remember reading that every year during Xmas in Atlanta and Tampa Bay, Warrick Dunn gives away several houses to struggling families with single parents. I believe it's supposed to be in honor of his mother, a cop who was killed in the line of duty.
