According to Nate Silver at fivethirtyeight.com the remaining ballots appear to be from pro-Begich areas. This one is shaping up to be very tight though. Promote this thread! | | TheBucsFan

With this, the Coleman/Franken recount and the runoff in Georgia, the Democrats could end up with 60 yet (including Liberman and Sanders, of course). Seems from my outside perspective that the runoff in Georgia will go to the Republican incumbent, but who knows. | DrDirt

No necessarily. Traditionally runoff turnout is low and favors the candidate with the more rabid base. So who knows. | TheBucsFan

| #5 Posted on 18.11.08 2203.46 Reposted on: 18.11.15 2205.05 | I don't know if this should go in the same thread as the Minnesota Senate race, or here, but The Associated Press has called the Senate race in Alaska for Democrat Mark Begich. Begich now leads by 3,724 votes with 2,500 overseas votes remaining. If the lead stays the same, that would be a high enough percentage to avoid an automatic recount, though Stevens can still ask for a recount if he's willing to pay the state the $15,000 that a recount is expected to cost.
Begich is the first Democratic Senator from Alaska since Mike Gravel, who served from 1969 to 1981. | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
