For me, it wold be people's constant lambasting of Ted Steven's analogy that "the internet is a series of tubes". As an analogy for bandwidth issues, it actually holds up.

Also, I think the mockery of Ross Perot's running mate, Adm. James Stockdale, was a bit out of line people actually were wonder who he was and why he was there.

Cory Doctorow could disappear from the face of the earth and I doubt anyone would complain.

"Meh" and "woot" and "This." ("This." used in place of "I agree with this post that I am quoting" on a message board, especially if the poster quotes some huge multi-paragraph post and then just adds "This." at the end of it and nothing else. It annoys me even more that "QFT.")

People fruitlessly complaining about stuff they can not change, throwing declarations of what's right and wrong left and right, all with a sheltered sense of anonymity because they communicate through an avatar which is usually a vagary of the person themselves.

If people had this kind of balls away from the internet the world would change.

People who think because there was an oblique reference by something that might be tangentially related to something somewhat connected to Wisconsin, they should weigh-in about how AWESOME Wisconsin is.

That, and adultfriendfinder.com pop-up ads where they really don't belong.

I'm tired of getting tonnes of spam in my email box, especially from some company called TESCO. I don't care if I can win a 1000 pound gift card, I'm not in the UK, and even when I unsubscribe from their list (which I never signed up for, I'm sure), I still get their emails.

Ridiculous overuse of "lol", especially when it's in reference to something someone's written themselves.

The fact ESPN's video starts streaming as soon as I hit their homepage (if I want to watch it I'm capable of hitting the Play button just fine).

And I think my hatred for people who merrily substitute "of" for "have" has been stated previously. Of course they'd probably argue there's no other way to save themselves typing the extra two characters. Someone should've thought of that. Hey, hang on.....

Tesco pretty much own the UK these days. It appears they're now shooting for global domination, starting with yourself. Resistance is futile I'm afraid. On the bright side, their bacon is both tasty and reasonably priced. Swings and roundabouts.

Seriously though, I can recommend gmail if you're wanting to avoid spam. I haven't had a thing since I switched to them.

I hate emails from "Cute lonely Russian girl looking for someone to hang out with. Email me at uyyrn@vkbqc.xu so I can send you these hot self-pics I have laying around". Um, you already have MY email addy, so how about you just send them over!

And I hate dudes who post about the post they're writing RIGHT NOW: "You can move this post if you like, but here's why I thought it belonged here...".

And Rock-Rolling on YouTube is never ever funny. Ever.

They're spamming my Gmail, interestingly enough.

Is TESCO the Walmart of the UK, then?

An addition: I'm tired of Engadget's commenting system: if someone's comment is lowest ranked, it's near impossible to read. I find they're the best comments.

Looking to Youtube for intelligent debate...is never going to happen. I'm a huge Super Sentai fan, and almost every video has comments saying "Japanese Power Rangers sucks" or anything like that.

It's ANNOYING.

Finally, I hate the new Facebook layout.

People talking like those cats that cannot spell.
What are those stupid things called again. Lolcatz?
Now making images with text on them is one thing.
Some can be amusing.
But then talk like that in messages, mails and what not?
Ugh.

I am tired of the phrases of the month.
Epic fail. First. pwned. Stuff like that.
There is a time and place for those, and usually it's not the place and definitely not the time to use them.

Oh, well I guess I can only recommend my specific gmail address then, which probably isn't much help

Tesco are more or less our Walmart. Well, technically Asda are because they and Walmart are owned by the same folks, but Tesco are far and away the biggest supermarket chain we've got. I'd heard they were buying up vast swathes of Europe, but didn't know they were going for North America yet.

On topic, I'll add my name to the list of those mentioning YouTube comments. Who has the time (never mind the energy) to post fifty variants of "screw you" back and forth to some dude just because they didn't share your opinion of a singing dog or some shit? I dunno.

Is that when someone posts a link to something that turns out to be a video of the Rock laying the smack down on someone?

Don't you people mean Rick-Rolling, which is ALWAYS funny? (Hell yes I am a Rick Astley fan, he quite underrated, I believe.)

The two things I hate are 'EPIC FAIL!' and people who talk about television ratings when they themselves have no reason to even give a fuck about it. They ain't advertisers or network stooges or what not. What's the point some guy in Bumfuck, Ohio having a heart attack over TNA iMPACT getting a 1.1 rating this week. Who the fuck is he to even give a shit?

There was a thread somewhere (DVDVRMB?) discussing the tragedy last week aboard that Russian Submarine that had a title of (and I'm doing this from memory) "Russian Navy = EPIC FAIL". That's when I knew the internet needed cleaning up.

It's even worse on the similar video site break.com.
There can be 20 comments on a video and not one of them has a thing to do with the subject of the video.
If it does, it always becomes racist and sexist.
A car crash video always has "I bet it was a woman driver" or any other bad thing is "because he was black".

It's amazing what happens when people are uncensored and anonymous. It makes you sad that there are people like that among us, but it's good to be reminded that there are people like that among us and we as people haven't come as far as we'd like to think.

I'm sick of people using "nigra" as a substitute for the n-word on other message boards. I don't know why it bothers me so much. Probably because there's some racist comment about AIDS that almost always goes with it afterwords.

This message board has spoiled me because accepted racist/hate speech I've seen in other places just drives me bonkers.

Let's also add people who act like "ghey" is somehow different from "gay".
