Yes, yes of course! He jumps off the steamboat while holding his hat.

I was trying to figure out why you were saying John Stamos was in Maverick. My apologies.

My movie that no one likes because most people haven't seen it would be the Coen Brothers' "Miller's Crossing", which is absolutely my favorite movie of all time.

I also really, really love "Grandma's Boy", even if it is dumb.

One of my favorite movies. I wouldn't have even thought to add it to this thread because EVERYBODY I know who's seen it loves it. MonKEY!!!!

Same with me. If fact, it was my friends that twisted my arm to see it on DVD because I heard such bad reviews of it that I didn't want to see it on the big screen. I love it!

Hey that's a great movie! One of my favorite Ed Norton films.

I think the 1967 Casino Royale is probably mine. It isn't a "good" movie, but it has Orson Wells as the head of Smersh, David Niven & Peter Sellers as James Bond, Woody Allen as Jimmy Bond, A really bizarre Peter O'Toole cameo, 4 directors, 3 screenplay writers -- none of which continued what the others were doing,

actual trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xEnoKqiGJFI
This fan-made trailer with footage from the 67 film but in the style of the recent one cracked me up: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LY-TNYiQFm8&feature=related

/edit and of course it's been long enough that I forgot I already mentioned this one. Bleh. Oh well.

Top Secret! Yeah, the campy 80s spoof with Val Kilmer as a 50s era American rocker who joins the French Resistance while performing in East Germany. It's not particularly hysterical or quotable, but there's just something about it that makes me watch it every (rare) chance I see it flicker across the DVR schedule.

Top Secret! and Real Genius made me a huge Kilmer fan in the late 80s and 90s. I love RG but most of my friends have never heard of it until I made them watch it. Most can't believe they had never seen it before.

RG is the more quotable of the two and I still quote this one to this day:

    Major Carnagle: Where's the laser?
    Professor Hathaway: It's coming.
Major Carnagle: It's coming? Ha! It's not even breathing hard.

Sadly, no one ever gets the reference.

That's a good choice because I hate that movie.

For my choice, I go with The Game starring Michael Douglas. Most of my friends who saw it when it came out in the theaters (I was in college at the time) found it either too implausible (which I agree with) or just too long/boring. But it is one of my very favorite movies and I think it was some of Sean Penn's best work.

I would so totally finish that line for you if you used it around me. Real Genius was one of those movies I saw at an impressionable age and has stuck with me vividly even when, as you've said, most people don't know it exists.

Other one-off lines that I still use out of context:

Professor Hathaway: Well, get it away from me! I hate popcorn! I can't stand popcorn!
Chris Knight: "Good. Now I know what to get you for your birthday."

    Mitch: What are you doing?
Chris Knight: Self-realization. I was thinking of the immortal words of Socrates, who said, "... I drank what?"

Mitch: You know, um, something strange happened to me this morning...
Chris Knight: Was it a dream where you see yourself standing in sort of sun-god robes on a pyramid with a thousand naked women screaming and throwing little pickles at you?
    Mitch: No...
Chris Knight: Why am I the only one who has that dream?

My personal favorite from RG:

Chris Knight: Have you ever seen a body like this before in your life?
David Decker: She happens to be my daughter.
Chris Knight: Oh. Then I guess you have.

I thought "The Spirit" was great, pulpy, trashy fun and Sam Jackson and the various femme fatales owned it.

But apparently it's awful.

Or you're all wrong.
