How can a person go about hiding text messages in pictures, like Jpgs or Bmps?

...yeah, I know, it's an odd question; I'm an odd person, so there you go.

Is there a way of doing this without having to use a special program? I was thinking there should be a really easy way of doing this like how you can hide text messages in web pages in the html coding.

Can you do this with pictures somehow?

I guess it depends on who you're hiding this info from and why. The easiest way would probably be to name the image file after what you want your message to be, like "pickmeupat7.jpg". If someone isnt looking for a message AND doesnt know how to get the url of an online image then that should work, but only if this image is a part of a webpage, as opposed to you telling someone "Hey, look at this photo I found at www.website.com/pickmeupat7.jpg!".

After typing that out, this whole things seems really weird. Can I know what the hell you have in mind for this??

Well I suppose you could put info in the comments section. Right click on a picture file, then go to the details tab I think and you can input extra stuff. People don't tend to look at that stuff by default.

Ok, after reading my first post, it does sound kinda strange.

I'm working on an online scavenger hunt with a friend of mine and we're trying to think of ways to direct people in the right direction to things without being overly obvious.

We want people to really work for it and use thier brains.
