| #1 Posted on 4.9.06 2309.19 Reposted on: 4.9.13 2310.22 | Of course, I had to have something I hadn't had before, so right off the bat I found...
Battered, deep fried pickle slices (with ranch dressing!) (mostly totally me - couldn't get Kim interested) Walleye with tartar sauce (mostly Kim's, but I had a few) 33oz Wild Cherry Pepsi (shared) Cheese curds (shared) Mini donuts (shared) Pronto Pup (mostly me) 20oz Dr Pepper (Kim had RC) Corn on the cob (separate cobs) Scotch egg with horseradish sauce (ALL me!)
Those fried pickles were AWESOME. That scotch egg is AWESOME. I was really on the fence about having it on the way out, but I was so glad I did.
I DID pass on having the spaghetti/meatball on a stick for a second year in a row. I think this was also the first fair where I didn't have any ice cream product.
Did I forget anything? Yes! It's there now.
There's always next year!

This is a STATE FAIR. You shouldn't even have to ask - it's hot and breaded and deeeeeeep fried.
So's the Scotch egg - it's a hard boiled egg encased in a ground sausage mixture, then rolled in breadcrumbs and deep fried. It's served SCALDING HOT but the second time they were good enough to cut it in half for me, making it a lot easier to eat. I don't know what's in that sausage, but I want to hunt that animal this winter. | JimBob Skeeter

Fried pickle slices - were they still crunchy on the inside? I have had them both soft and crisp, and the crisp ones rule. I cannot wait until our regional fair this week-end.
Since you've had a veritable smorgasboard, I think you can be excused for no spaghetti on a stick, but in 2 days you had all that soda, yet no ice cream? Was it unseasonably cool? | BigDaddyLoco

Something to possibly look forward to next year, from the home of the corn dog and deep-fried banana, peanut butter and jelly sandwich: Deep Fried Coca-Cola (kirotv.com).
Gonzales deep-fries Coca-Cola-flavored batter. He then drizzles Coke fountain syrup on it. The fried Coke is topped with whipped cream, cinnamon sugar and a cherry.

I had your fair reports on my head all day today as my girlfriend and I trekked to opening day of the LA County Fair. Today consisted of consumption of mass fried quantities including deep fried oreos and a Krispy Kreme chicken sandwich! | Whitebacon

just as you would expect...pretty gross. it was a Krispy Kreme donut with a breaded chicken patty, a slice of cheese, and honey on the side. actually, it would've been better if they had a better quality chicken patty. For $5.25, I could've just bought a donut, a $1 chicken sandwich from a fast food joint, some cheese, and would've had the same thing for less. | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
