Does anyone know if the Official Sport of the hockey-hoovering nation of Canada, lacrosse, has ever taken hold in any other country? I am increasingly seeing children with lacrosse sticks around Halifax, and wonder if this trend is local, national or perhaps even international.

From the Home of Hockey (and Lacrosse too....),

Lacrosse is finally starting to take off here in the US at the high school and college level outside of the traditional hotbeds of Maryland, NJ & NY. All you need to do is go to a site like www.laxpower.com to see the growth in the names and numbers of schools playing.

Outside of the US, I know that they are playing in Australia and I think it has started to be played in the UK
