| #6 Posted on 9.6.05 1533.50 Reposted on: 9.6.12 1536.03 | I knew this guy Mike in San Francisco who was a stand-up comedian . At one point he was driving a limo as a "day job", & happened to be chauffering Anne Bancroft.
Mike: [ making conversation ] Ms Bancroft, what brings you to San Francisco?
AB: Oh, my husband's here working on a movie.
Mike: Oh, is your husband in show business? [ he knew perfectly well who her husband was ]
AB: Uh, I'm married to Mel Brooks?
Mike: Joke.
AB: Funny.
She actually liked Mike, & requested him as her chauffer for the rest of her stay there.
I'm pretty sure that part of the secret to spending any significant amount of time with an intrinsic lunatic like Mel Brooks is to get the jokes, but not be *too* impressed with them. :-) | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
