Shaq has said a lot of dumbass stuff lately, but that is a really classy move.

He's been living off a $20,000 per year pension and had to sell his MVP trophy to pay for dialysis. This while Mark Blount and other stiffs makes MILLIONS of dollars. Billy Hunter and the players union ought to do right by the older retired players than they have done. It's a shame. | Spaceman Spiff

Without Mikan, there are no Los Angeles Lakers. He was the first dominant big man and the NBA's first superstar. God bless him and his family. | ekedolphin

| #6 Posted on 6.6.05 2138.55 Reposted on: 6.6.12 2142.38 | A true legend passes away. Mikan was the man in the BAA and NBA's early years, and it can be argued that without him, professional basketball might not have gained the popularity it needed to get to the Bill Russell Celtics era, let alone the modern era.
Condolences to his family and all who knew him, and a truly classy move by Shaquille in paying for his funeral. I think it would've been even classier if it hadn't been publicized, and I think maybe he could have given his friend some money so he could've lived a better life towards the end, but I'm not going to demonize him. | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
