But watching Olympic basketball is different, I still think the best players are in the NBA but the style of the Olympic game made it so much more interesting. I love almost everything about the Olympic game, the team play, the ability to use a zone defense forcing the team on offense to use more imagination. The 10-minute quarters along with the longer shot clock makes each possession much more important... The NBA game is so focused on sizzle and flash of individuals but took away the true beauty that basketball could be. These years are all about Star player vs. Star player and the league encourages with their marketing. Some might blame SportsCenter for not really showing good team passing with an outside shot but always showing the jams but I can't stand the street ball game which NBA is being more and more these days.
And NBC commentators continues to whine about Olympic officials, I actually liked the officials there more. Gawd forbid they actually call traveling when someone takes 5 steps and don't stand there like marks saying "ooh cool dunk" Also they weren't afraid to call a foul on a superstar even if he had a high number of fouls... Olympics were fun, now back to the "me first" attitude of the NBA. I guess I could focus more on college basketball as it seems a lot more similar to the Olympic style of play.
