Well, it was going to be either him or O'Neill. I thought GG might last through the end of the season, though.

Kinda crazy that they wouldnt wait 8 more games until the end of the season, especially since his contract is up for renewal then anyway.

I agree that this seems nuts right now, but considering the stories that were out in the past week about the problems in house with Grunwald and O'Neill, etc... I think they had to do something now.

It's sad really, I though Grunwald was on the right track initially with this team. Things just have not played out that way. Even this year, the changes, I thought, were positive ones.

Fresh eyes, I wonder what that means for Vinsanity????

Carter is locked up in a long term deal...I am sure he will be around for a while to come...

I do not believe that he will be around for sure. Many, many people believe that it is time for a full-scale change that could only happen if he was moved.

I am not sure where I sit on that issue. Not sure where is value is anymore. He might actually have to play a full season first...

Also, I like Jalen Rose and Donyell Marshall on this team with Carter and Bosh. They could be a good 4/6 of a starting 6. (add a PG and a C and that's not bad, IMO)

Don't get too excited... O'Neill is more than likely next.

I don't think it's that strange to fire him now, the team is not going to the playoffs and the decision is made, why not fire him now and get a head start searching for a new GM before the draft.

I really like Grunwald, he seems like a standup guy, became a Canadian citizen, was always very classy. His speech when he first took over the club as GM saying "Thanking the crowd and city for their support and he'll do everything to make them better" didn't seem like a PR stunt but coming from the heart. And he did some great moves early on but too much stuff went wrong he past few years to ignore... Plus if O'Neill goes he has to go, just so many coaching change can go down until the president of the club says hey maybe it's the GM.

I think it started really going downhill after the Hakeem signing, even though to be fair the fans and the media especially were all praising it(I'm not even that big on basketball and I knew this signing didn't have any legs). When Hakeem looked like well an old past his prime injured man out there and then losing decent big men like Keon Clark there is trouble to be had... Plus the whole atmosphere around the club seemed to have a dark cloud around it, never felt like a team anymore.

It's amazing just 2001 the Raptors were on such a high, defeating the Knicks in the first round and taking Philly to game 7 on the last shot of the second round. It certainly went downhill fast after that... Vince Carter is still one of if not the most marketable player in the NBA (allstar voting proves that). But I wonder if you need to change the entire identity of the team including it's on court figurehead. Carter seems heartless out there at times, and just so many injury setbacks you can take before you want someone who can play a full season.
